Stating that he had taken a
good look at Mt. Fujiyama, Sgt.
Bob Turtle wrote to his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Turtle, 232
Valley View Drive, December 4
from the island of Saipan. Sgt:
Tuttle is senior gunner on a
B-29 and has charge of the cen
tral fire control system of the
big bomber.
"I've had a good look at Fuji
yama," the Mpung man wrote,
but wasn t very interested in
Its scenic beauty at the time."
Commenting about Saipan, the
sergeant wrote, that the island
was pretty, and the climate not
too bad. Saipan, not very large
and formed of. coral, according
to the sergeant, has lots of marks
of the battle which wrested the
island from the jnemy and he
commented that the navy had
knocked out a lot of Jap in
stallations.
This was Sgt. Tuttle's first let
ter to his parents after he began
his flights over enemy territory.
His brother. First Lt. Shelby G.
Tuttle, Is an instrument flight
Instructor in the army transport
