after receiving a medical dis
charge from -the service. Litt
rell, a graduate of Medford
High school, was a service pilot
with the Air Transport Com
mand and was stationed at Mid
land, Texas. He plans to attend
college in the near future. A
brother. Staff Sgt. Harold Litt
rell, Infantry, Is in France and
another brother, MM 2c Bill
Littrell, Is in the South Pacific
theatre and expects to be home

In France Pvt. Ray Case
beer, a son of Mrs. Elsie Case
beer of Central Point, recently
arrived in France to serve with
an infantry unit according to
Information received by his
mother. Pvt. Casebeer gradu
ated from Medford senior high
school In January "of 1944 and
went ' immediately Into - the
army. He played first-string
football for the Medford Tor
nadoes while in school.

Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Allen
Rogers and daughter, Judy, and
Mrs. Rogers' parents, Mr. and
Mrs. W. H. Pollock of North Da
kota arrived in Medford Sunday
to visit Mr. Roger's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Olive Rogers, 908
Queen Anne avenue. The Allen
Rogers are living in Vancouver,
Wash., where Mr. Rogers is em
ployed at the Kaiser-shipyards.
The Rogers and Pollocks plan
to leave Medford tomorrow.

RED CROSS OPEN
Highlight of the Red Cross
open house, held yesterday In
commemoration of Pearl Harbor
day and to aid in the recruit
ment of volunteers, was the do
nation and packaging of more
than llpO articles destined for
presentation to servicemen at sea
on Christmas day as remem
brances from home. The various
small articles were grouped into
about 200 packages and wrapped
with gay paper and ribbon.
These will be sent to San Fran
cisco tomorrow after donations
from outlying districts come in,
and will be placed on ships
which will be on the seas Christ
mas day.
All departments and every ac
tivity of the Jackson county Red
Cross chapter and the Junior
Red Cross were shown yesterday
through displays, demonstra
tions, work groups and other
means. Center of activity was
the courthouse auditorium
where the gifts were received
and wrapped and several chap
ter departments had displays.
Grey Ladies Display
Grey Ladies of the Hospital
and Recreation corps had a dis
play of crafts and recreation
equipment and a group of con
valescent servicemen were on
hand to be instructed. A hos
pital bed and other equipment
made up the nurses aid display
and a group of the aides staged
demonstrations. Placards, charts
and pictured Information made
up the first aid, accident pre
vention and nutrition displays
and the home nursing unit dis
play portrayed a home sick-room
In miniature with a doll bed and
doll patient.
Women of the surgical dress
ings department and of the pro
duction unit. Including members'
of the Camp White Auxiliary
production unit, made up work
ing groups to show their Red
Cross duties and hospital gar
ments, kit bags, surgical dress
ings, afghans and sox were on
display.
Prisons On Maps
Visitors to the home service
corps room saw a permanent dis
play which includes maps show
ing where prisoners of war from
this county are interned, the pri
soner of war food kits, invalid
food kits, medicine kits and re
creation kits, copies of prisoner
of war bulletins, books and pri
son camp newspapers. The maps
show that mora than 50 men
from this county are prisoners
of various nations. The home
service corps Is a participating
agency in the veterans service
committee organized by the state
selective service board.
Each corps display was mark
ed with a figurine -dressed in
the uniform of tfiat corps and
with wooden barometers. These
latter all Indicated a marked
slump In the number of volun
teers available for the numerous
activities of the chapter.
Gifts Transported
During the day women of the
motor corps transported people
and boxes of gifts, making trips

jects which the juniors carry on.

center. The Christmas gift pro
ject was in charge of Mrs. S. E.
Philips, chairman of the Jack
son county unit of the Siskiyou
Camp, and Hospital committee.

Minister MacKenzie King a two-to-one
vote of confidence early
today that carried a rrandate for
a "more vigorous" prosecution
of the war effort, then weary
from two weeks of debate on the
compulsory military conscrip
tion issue recessed until Janu
ary 31.
King made one of the most
powerful speeches of his career
in a bid to save his government.
A few minutes after he fin
ished, the house gave him the
vote of confidence. In effect, it
was a vote for sending 18,000
home defense troops to the
European theater of war to re
inforce veteran Canadian armies.
