was seriously wounded last Aug
ust in England.
Kyle In Fiance Pfc. Robert
F. Kyle, Jr., is now in France
with an infantry division of the
Seventh Army according to a
letter from the serviceman to
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rob
ert F. Kyle, Sr., 609 South Oak
dale avenue. The young man
wrote his parents that he had
been on a trip to Marseilles and
that the French people were
"kind and generous". The sec
tion in which his unit had been
stationed was forested much
after the manner of Oregon, he
wrote. Pfc. Kyle has been in
France since Oct. 20.

tion was announced by OPA to
day on the ceiling price of ap
ples for the current week as
published in yesterday's sched
ule. The list should have read,
under appes, "all others, two
pounds for 19 cents" -instead of
18 cents. The mistake was due
to a typographical error made
in the Portland office, it was
stated.

Brock, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. D.
Brock, 851 Palm street, arrived
In Medford Monday night on a
two week furlough to visit his
parents. Pvt. Brock, who is in
the administrative branch of
the Army Air Force, will report
to Turner Field, Albany, Ga.,
when he leaves here. He Is a
graduate of Medfprd High
School and was employed at
the California-Oregon Power
Company in Medford prior to
entering the service. '

Lorena took the witness stand
and said she never did any such
thing and, furthermore she had
plenty of 'trouble with Dorothy
"over her cheating on her hus
band." ' .

Hours for the Red Cross Pearl
Harbor day open house being
held today have been extended
to include this evening, it was
announced this noon. Originally
planned to close at 8 o'clock, the
hours have bee extended until
9 p. m. A demonstration by
nurses' aides is announced for
8 p. m.
Hundreds of visitors are ex
pected to attend both the chap
ter open house at the courthouse
and the Junior Red Cross open
house at the lunlor's headquar
ters in the Holly building. Visit
ors will bring articles which will
be wrapped as Chrstmas gifts
for men at sea on Christmas day.
This noon more than 30 peo
ple attended a luncheon meeting
of the chapter board held at the
courthouse. Board members and
other unit and branch represen
tatives came from' all parts of the
county to be present for the
Pearl Harbor day meeting and
open house.
Luncheon arrangements were
in charge of Mrs. Lillian Salade.
