opening of the Christmas seal

anti-tuberculosis drive reported
today. Collections in the vari
ous churches will as usual be
added to this fund.
In announcing Seal Sale Sun
day as November 26, the Rev.
Fred M. Weatherford, chairman
of the Ministerial association,
issued the following endorse
ment of this activity of the
Jackson Country Public Health
association:
"I regard the Jackson County
Public Health association fight
against tuberculosis as the most
community wide, humanitarian
movement within the county.
The objective of assisting to re
cover the health of tubercular
patients is Indeed a great and
worthy cause. It should com
mend the support of all."

ducted by high school young
people of the church.. The new
room has been completely re
constructed and furnished for
the use of the young people.
Rich drapes of ivory and bur
gundy grace the large windows,
which are covered with oyster
white glass curtains. The ceiling
is white fir-tex tyle and the
waus are tinted in rich cream.
The floor is completely covered
with a deep burgundy carpet
and the seating is a chapel ar
rangement of pews of light ivory.
A small speaker's desk of simi
lar color, suggestive of a church
pulpit centers the attention at
the front of the room.

A meeting of the girls' league
was held November 14, to for
mulate plans for the A. S. B.
dance last Saturday. Following
the business meeting, "Curse of
an Aching Heart" and "Dear
Old Girl" were sung by Nancy
Swem and Elaine Walker. The
girls were appropriately dressed
for the parts and were accom
panied at the piano by' Velma
Brock.

Smith. Entertainment for the
assembly was offered by Carl
Winklebeck, who sang and
played "What Do Ya Hear From
the Old Country" and "Four
and Twenty Blackbirds."

At a SDanish club meeting
November 15, in room 28, Helen
Rubenstein was elected social
chairman. Helen will announce
her various committees at a
later date.
A picture was presented to
the student body November 20,
showing the history and devel
opment of our country. Name
of the picture was "Land of Lib
erty," a production by Cecil B.
DeMille. The scenes were ob
tained from regular motion pic
tures In which many celebrated
movie stars portrayed historical
characters. The show, given
during activity period, was spon
sored by the department of vis
ual education. Bill Patton was
picture technician.

Torch Honor was in charge of
a Thanksgiving program during
activity period Wednesday.
Guest speaker for the assembly
was the Rev. Milo C. Ross, who
spoke on the meaning and sig
nificance of Thanksgiving.
High school chorus classes
were featured in the following
numbers: "To Thee We Sing"
and "Blessed Is the Nation" by
the a capella choir; "Land of
Hope and Glory" by Carl Win
klebleck and the sextet; "Amer
ica, My Own" by the girls' chor
us, and "I Hear America Sing
ing" by the choir.

third period, November 21, Mr.
Leland A. Mentzer announced
that the following girls would
sell senior calling cards this

sons, and June Williams. Mr.
Mentzer stated that the senior
