SON'S BALLOT IN
ABSENTEE LIST
While Mrs. Paul Hanlin
served on the election bo-ard
Tuesday in her precinct, Queen
Anne, she had the pleasure of
counting the ballot of her son,
Robert Hanlin, storekeeper first
class in the navy, whose vote
was one of three absentee bal
lots received in that precinct
from men in service overseas:
As Mrs. Hanlin, serving as
judge for the board, prepared
to open the absentee ballots she
recognized the handwriting of
her son and called attention of
the election board chairman, F.
E. Redden, and others on the
board, to the unusual occurence.
This was the young man's
first ballot and in a letter re
ceived yesterday, he wrote his
parents that he had always
planned on ' making his trip to
the polls with his parents, but
that the absentee ballot would
have to serve for the time. Han
lin serves with the crew of an
aircraft carrier which has had a
a distinguished service since
early in the war.
Mr. and Mrs. -Hanlin reside
at 1016 East Jackson boulevard.
