sign Nathan Robert Deaver, son
of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Deaver of
this city, has received an award
of merit for excellence In navi
gation. Ensign Deaver, stationed
in Los Angeles, with the United
States Maritime Service, was

he recently received his com
mission at that base. As an en
listed man, Ensign Deaver serv
ed in Atlantic, Mediterranean
and Pacific theatres. He is a
graduate of Medford high school
and attended Southern Oregon
College of Education. He was in
Medford for five days last week

BALLOT MISTAKE
Due to a typographical error
in the printing of the official
ballots for Jackson county, at the
November 7 election, the name
of Wayne L. Morse, Republican
candidate for United States
senator, will be placed on the
ballots with stickers. It was er
roneously printed as Wayne
Morse.
When the error was discover
ed by the county clerk's office,
between 1,000 and 1,200 ballots
to soldiers had been mailed.
