Your Health
BY DR. WILLIAM BRADY, M. D.
Readers should address Inquiries toi Dr. William Brady
265 El Camino. Beverly Hills. Calit.
EVERYBODY HAS
One grumpy old boy sum
moned me to his office and told
me I'd have to change my tcach-
ings about
catching cold.
He didn't know
nnything about
the scicntitic
medical points
of the question
but he knew
from many
years of ex
perience that
If he walked
the few blocks
from his office
Dr Bradf to his club for
lunch without his overshoes on,
when the pavement was even a
little damp, he was practically
certain to . . .
The only reason for these talks
about blood pressure Is that now
I'm having trouble with another
great man in another large city.
He has a mad on about my con
stant harping on the importance
of saving the teeth, supplement
ing the everyday deficient diet
with the essential vitamins and
being on guard against mouth
spray as the usual mode of infec
tion with "colds." The great man
even asserts that mothers of
smalll children are complaining
about the demoralizing Influence
of my teachings for instance,
when I assure youngsters It
makes no difference whether you
get your feet wet or not, so far
85 health is concerned. Being
presumably a person of common
ordinary intelligence I ought to
know better than that. Etc., etc.
So the question Is, shall I be
come a mere memory or shall I
pipe down, pull In my horns, and
make all my teachings conform
to the conventions or standards
of, say, 1890?.
Take this blood pressure thing.

BLOOD PRESSURE
I shall never tell anybody what
his blood pressure should be or
what causes it to be too high or
too low or what he should do,
take or not eat if some busybody
has convinced him he is suffer
ing from high or low blood pres
sure. I could as well determine from
the handwriting and a lock of
hair whether a correspondent's
or reader's pulse or heart beat
is too rapid or too slow and ten
what will correct it.
I've said scores of times here
that if you are wise you'll leave
blood pressure to your doctor. In
any case your own doctor is the
only one who can advise you In
telligently about it.

Running Esr
My cousin writes from the south
that your prescription for ear drops
cured her 10-year-old son's chronic
running ear in a few weeks rifter
mnnv doctors had failed. (Mrs. P.W.S.)
Answer With the timely help of A.
Coincidence, perhaps. The drops are
simple enough if you can get the
solution from vour druggist. Ten
grains of boric acid In one fluldounce
of pure grain alcohol drop two or
three drops in the ear each night and
morning, using blunt dropper and hav
ing vial always comfortably warm.
Wear no plug of cotton In ear per
mit unobstructed ventilation and as
much daylight as may be. If druggists
cannot supply the alcohol without pre
scription, there's nothing more 1 can
do about it.
