America's voters must weigh
aerlously tile qualifications of
uA nnmiMinan nnri Democratic
vice nresldentlal nominees In
November because "they may
be voting for a president," Gov.
Earl Warren of California saldj
last night. . I
In a speech focused primarily
on the vice-presidential race,
Warren told a Republican cam
paign rally Inst night that the
"team" of Gov. Thomas E.
Dewey and Gov. John W. Brick
er was the best that could have
been found.
"It has been wisely said that
but a single heartbeat separates
the vice-president from the
presidency," Warren said. "It
thus behooves us all to make
certain that we have not Just
nne man, but a first class team
for president and vice-president.
"Does anyone believe that the
Democratic party is offering any
nuch team to the American
pcoplo?
"No my friends, all that Is re
quired by the new deal of Its
candidates for that position Is
that they be cleared through
Sidney llillman. Viewed In this
crlous vein Is there anyone
who would tako a Harry Tru
man when they can get a John
Brickcr?"
