Named Honor Man
At Naval School
Thomas Harold Gerety, AOM3e
was named honor man of squad
ron 8-43 when the squadron
graduated Sept. 23 from the
Naval Air Gunner's school nt
Miami, Fla., a letter received
by the young man's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. T. M. Gerety, 120 New
town street, states. Gerety is
now at a station near Miami for
further training as Sorpcdoman
on a Gruman Avenger, navy
plane.
The young man graduated
from Medford high school with
the class of 1843 and In July
entered the University of Colo
rado at Boulder under the navy
V-12 training program. After six
months at the university he was
sent to the Great Lakes Naval
Training station and from thera
to the naval air technical train,
lng center at Memphis, Tenn.
His training at the Miami gun
nery school followed,

Edith Hunt has made tentative
plans, which are expected to lis
completed soon, to buy the Dr.
Goldsberry home In Central
Point. She has sold her property
on Hillcrest road and plans to
move to Centra Point in the
near future. Mrs. Hmt is a Cen
tral Point girl and will hava
many friends to welcome her
back to the community. She is
a daughter of John Ross
