Of Club's Annual Fair
In what was described by those
interested as one of the best 4H
livestock auction sales ever held
in Jackson county, sixty head
of beef steers,' 18 hogs and 23
fat lambs were sold Thursday in
the windup feature of the annual
4H fair at the Jackson county
fairground.
Grand champion beef steer
owned by Dillon Arnold, Valley
view, was sold to Safeway
Stores, Inc., for 47Vic per pound
and from there on prices ranged
down to 12c. The Groceteria
Food Market purchased the

Blue Moon ranch for 55c per
pound. The grand champion fat
hog owned by Robert Koger of
Sams Valley, was sold to Crater
Lake Motors, Medford, for 25c
per pound. The champion Duroc
hog owned by Bill Kramer of
Howard, was sold to Crater Meat
Co. of Medford at 26c per pound,
and the champion Hampshire
hog owned by Margaret Reed of
Table Rock, was also sold to
Crater Meat Co. for 21c per
pound.

The new round-trip should
mean much better passenger
service for Medford residents
with no priority rating, Meyer
said, adding that for months the
line has been forced to turn
down hundreds of passengers,
carrying only those whose priori
ties entitled them to1 passenger
space on the planes.

To meet the needs of expand-
traffic between Medford and
other Pacific Coast points, Unit
ed Air Lines has been granted
a fifth daily round trip the
length of the coast by the Civil
Aeronautics Board it was an
nounced today by Jack Y. Mey
er, station manager here. The
new schedule is effective Sun
day, October 1, Meyer said.
The new flight will bring to
420 the number of passenger
seats on flights in and out of
Medford daily, the manager
pointed nut, and added that this
puts Medford service on a par
with Sacramento and gives more
than twice the service furnished
Salem and Eugene.
The new southbound flight,
to be No. 56, will not stop at
Sacramento or Oakland and will
be United's fastest schedule to
date between Medford, San Fran
cisco and Los Angeles. Meyer
said. Leaving here at 7:11 p. m.,
the flight will arrive In Los
Angeles four hours and 19 min
utes later, or 11:30 p. m., with
but the one stop in San Fran
cisco. No. 57, the new northbound
trip, will leave Medford at 12:17
p.m. for Portland and Seattle.
The five flights north bound
each day will now be departing
