The fall tea Is one of the few
social affairs which the league
plans each year and in past years
has attracted a large number of
women interested In the group's
program. Members and guests
are asked to note the change In
date from Tuesday to Wednes
day,' the day having been chang
ed to fit Mrs. Engel's traveling
schedule. Hours will be from
3:30 to five o'clock.
A brief program on the theme
"Know Your League" has
been planned. Mrs. Walter Inch
will tell of the history, purpose
and policy of the league as a
whole. Mrs. Leonard Carpenter
will present local leapue history

plain future plans of tho local
group. Mrs. H. D. Byington and
Mrs. A. A. Seekatz are co-chairmen
In charge of plans and Mrs.
A. W. Aya has arranged the pro
gram. Mrs. Engels Is considered one
of the leading club women of
her district. She organized and
held many offices In the Marin
County League and has been
finance chairman and northern
vice-chairman of the California
League. In addition to her league
work. Mrs. Engels Is active In
the Outdoor Art club, the Mill
Corps. The bride Is the daughter
of H. O. Stephenson, Medford
and Mrs. Josie Stephenson, Pine
Acres, Route 1, and the groom
is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E
Crawford, 306 Apple street.

vice at 8:30 o'clock. Mrs. Ernest
Conrad was at the organ for the
wedding march and Miss Joanna
Wyatte sang "Because" preced
ing the ceremony. Arrangements
o. white gladioli decorated the
church.
Miss Stephenson's wedding
gown was of white brocaded
satin and designed with a train.
The full length veil was held
with a Juliet cap and her bou
quet was two burgundy-throated
white orchids arranged with
stephanotis. The bride was given
in marriage by her father.
Maid-of-honor for the bride
was Miss Margaret Avery of
Santa Monica, Calif., and brides
maids were Miss Carol Teng
wald, Miss Anne Van Valzah,
and the groom's two sisters, the
Misses Jo-Ann and Kayo Craw
ford. Miss Avery's gown was
fashioned with a bodice of whito
brocaded satin and net skirt and
the four bridesmaids wore
matching gowns of white faille,
designed on princess lines. All
carried bouquets of burgundy
colored gladioli and wore clus
ters of the same blossoms in
their hair.
For her daughter's wedding
Mrs. Stephenson wore a gown of

Macclesfield. England, the bride being the former Miss Eva
Grainger of Macclesfield. Sgt. Hoefft. son of Mr. and Mrs. William
Hoefft of Lake Croek, has been stationed in England for two years,
serving In a base hospital.

The betrothal of Miss Anne
Carter to Pvt. Thomas Reames
was announced by Miss Carter's
mother, Mrs. Frances Carter,
Eastlawn Court, last week. Pvt.
Reames Is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Reames, 27 Geneva
street.
The announcement was made
at a dessert dinner given by Mrs.
Carter Wednesday evening for a
few close friends of her daugh
ter, the message being attached
to corsages presented to each
guest. No date has been set for
the wedding.
Miss Carter is a graduate of

Portland, having completed her
course there last spring. She
leaves next month for Stockton,
Calif., where she will enter the
College of the Pacific as a fresh
man. Pvt. Reames attended Hill
Military Academy in Portland
nd graduated from Medford
senior high school in January of
1944. He has been stationed re
cently at Camp Roberts, Calif.,
and left Friday of last week for
Camp Robinson, Ark., after a
leave en route which he spent
here.

The reception which followed
was at the Holland Hotel. The
traditional wedding cake was cut
by the bride and groom and
served by Mrs. Donald Gal
brcalth. Mrs. Jack Six, the
bride's sister, served the cham
pagne punch and Mrs. George
K. Goodrich, another sister of
the bride, also assisted at the
reception.
Lt. Hartzell and his bride
made a brief wedding trip, Mrs.
Hartzell wearing for traveling a
three-piece suit of chartreuse
and black with a corsage of
white orchids. They have return
ed to Medford and will leave to
morrow for Pensacola, Fla.,
where the groom, who returned
only recently from nearly a
year's service In the South Pa
cific as a marine pilot, will be
an aviation Instructor.

A "fun fest" Is being planned
for the social hour following the
meeting of Olive Rebekah lodge
tomorrow night at the I.O.O F.
hall, 221 West Sixth street. All
members are asked to come in
costume, and each Is to bring a
hat which she has made. The hats
will be exhibited, and then put
on sale, the resulting funds go
ing to the lodge budget.
