WAR BID FLAG
Camp White In a brief but
imposing ceremony at Camp
White Headquarters Wednes
day afternoon Cel. John R.
Young, Camp Commander, pre
sented the Treasury Department
War Bond flag to civilian em
ployees as a fitting tribute to
their participation in the War
Bond program.
Of blue and white "Minute
Man" design, the flag was for
mally accepted by Chester L.
Thompson, civilian representa
tive, and then flown aloft be
neath the Stars and Stripes.
In making the presentation,
Col, Young praised the efforts
of the civilian employees in
their support of the War Bond
program and said that he was
exceedingly proud that Camp
White had made such an excel'
lent showing.
The flag symbolizes attain
ment of 90 per cent participa
tion of total personnel and 10
per cent deduction of gross pay.
Concluding the ceremony Lt.
William R. Barrett, War Bond
officer, reminded Camp White's
civilian workers that by their
continued purchases of bonds
they can be instrumental in
bringing home sooner their
sons, brothers and husbands
now in the service.

Washington, Sept. 7. (IJ.R)
Leaders of the Democratic and

a working agreement under
which they hope to "wage peace
as we wage war on a non
partisan basis but Word appar
ently hasn't yet seeped down to
all lower party levels.
The Republican presidential
nominee. Gov. Thomas E. Dewey
starts his first nationwide cam
paign swing today from Phila
delphia and will have a chance
to set the tone of what he con
siders "nonpartisan public dis
cussion" of the plans for a world
security organization.
Dewey, it was revealed last
night, expressed hope for great
j success in lifting the problem of
future peace above partisanship
in an Aug. 25 letter to Secretary
of State Cordell Hull. But 24
hours before the letter was
made public by the state depart
ment, the Democratic foreign
policy spokesman in the senate
accused a Republican senator of
injecting political remarks into
a debate on the proposals for an
international peace organization.
Chairman Tom Connally, D.,
Tex., of the senate foreign rela
tions committee told Sen. Har
lan Bushfield, R., S. D., that his
remarks were "very largely of a
political nature" because of his
references to the fourth term
