Ruby Westbrook after her six-months-old
son was found dead
of starvation and neglect In her
two-room apartment five miles
west of Granite City.
Her four other children were
found suffering from malnutri
tion, police said. The plight of
the children was discovered.
police reported, after Mrs. West-
brook, wife of Pvt. Walter West
brook, now overseas, had left
them alone about 10 p. m. Sat
urday until 11 a. m. yesterday,
when she returned to find her
youngest child dead. She said
she left home to collect $20 from
a friend.
