    Farmers' Strike v
Was Bund Signal
Says Ex-Member
Washington, June 28 (U.R)
Roy P. Arnold, Los Angeles opti
cal technician and ex-member of
the German-American bund, tes
tified at the mass edltion trial
today that a strike of produce
fanners around New York city
was to have been the signal for
the bund's abortive plans to
stage a "putsch" and install its
own "strong man" in America.
Arnold, who joined the bund
as a result of his friendship with
Hans Diebel, one of the 29 de
fendants In the trial, Said Diebel
told him of the signal for the
uprising after he made "repeat
ed" requests.
He testified yesterday that two
other defendants in the trial
Evangelist Gerald B. Winrod
and Silver Shirt organizer .Wil
liam Dudley Pelley were the
bund's candidates for the role of
"strong man" In this country.
Arnold told the jury today
that Diebel had said that he in
tended to "get himself five Jews
before he was stopped" if the
planned putsch became "too
hot."

The women replied they didn't

rationed catsup they just

finally was cleared up when a
salesman for a wholesale sup
ply firm appeared and explain
ed he had delivered It to the
wrong door the catsup right-
