WAVEs, will leave this eve
ning after a visit here with her
grandparents, the Rev. and Mrs.
L. F. Belknap, South Pacific
highway. Yeoman Bryant is
stationed at Corpus Christi,
Tex. She has many friends in
Medford, having spent ' several
summers in the past with her
grandparents.
In Texas Pvt. Nina M. Moore
of the Women's Army Corps has
been assigned to duty at Waco,
Tex., according to a relesase
from Ft. Des Moines, la., where
she was stationed until about
two weeks ago. Pvt. Moore,
who went into the army last
March, was manager of the
Medford Housing Authority
prior to her enlistment. She is
the daughter of Mrs. Richard

Tuesday. Mr. Gastineau, now
stationed with the Scabee's in

expected home on leave soon.

min, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs.
Marc B. Jarmin of 23 Corning
Court, has been promoted to the
rank of sergeant In the ski
troops, according to word re
ceived by his parents. Jarmin,
stationed at Camp Hale, Colo
rado, is expected home on fur
lough soon. A graduate of Med
ford high, Jarmin entered the
service after completing a year
at Oregon State College. He
took his initial training under
Bill Bowerman, a former Med
ford high coach.

Thurston Promote d Jim
Thurston, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Phil Thurston of Eagle Point,
was promoted to first class
aviation machinist's mate on
June 1, according to informa
tion received by his parents.
Mrs. Thurston states that the
day following his promotion,
all navy rates were frozen in
that area. Jim and his brother,
Kenneth Thurston have both
been stationed in the Hawaiian
Islands for seven months, and
are able to be together on lib
erty from their bases. Kenneth
is a pharmacist's mate second
class in a naval hospital on
Oahu.

ed the temporary president, Dr.
Bert R. Elliott, to serve as head
of the organization for the com
ing year at a meeting held at the
Chamber of Commerce. Mrs.

tinue to serve as secretary and

volt by the California delegation
against leadership of the Ameri
can Medical association was over
whelmingly quelled today at the
94th meeting of the association.
The California delegation of
eight offered a resolution in ex
ecutive session of the house of
delegates which asked that Dr.
Morris Fishbein be dismissed as
editor of the American Medical
Association Journal and that Dr.
Olin West be retired as secretary
and general manager of the as
sociation.
The vote was 144 against the
resolution and nine for it.
Earlier Dr. Walter Kempner,
professor of medicine at Duke
university, explained to dele
gates how a diet of fruit Juices,
rice, fruit and sugar has proved
beneficial in the treatment of
kidney disease and high blood

With all new projection and
sound equipment, the Rlalto
theater will re-open its doors this
evening and will again take its
place as one of Medford's most
popular places of entertainment.
Since the fire which destroyed
the projection room equipment
on May 25, equipment has been
rushed from factories and ware
houses to facilitate re-opening of
the theater as soon as possible.
During the past few days, sound
and projection technicians, elec
tricians and painters and plumb
ers have been adding the final
touches to make the theater
ready. And tonight, at 6:45,
Rlalto theater patrons will wit
ness motion picture presenta
tion in the finest degree that,
modern equipment can offer.
Motiograph, Ashcroft and West
ern Electric are names symbol
izing the ultimate in projection
and sound systems and it was
from these companies that the
Rialto theater secured Its new
and thoroughly modern equip
ment.
It has also been pointed out
that all projection rooms in the
Medford theaters are as fire
proof and secure as steel and
concrete can make them. It
would be difficult Indeed for
any conflagration starting in any
of the local projection rooms to
reach the auditorium practical
ly impossible.

ter's opening was the announce
ment of the closing of the Holly
theater until further notice.
