ELKS CHRISTMAS
The local Elks lodge will hold
ts annual Christmas tree party
Thursday night, according to an
anonuneement today by Chef
Leonard, general chairman of
the committee.
The Christmas tree party is (or
the purpose of raising funds tir
the charitable work of the lodue
including the Christmas cheer
brought into the homes of the
needy of the community.
A dinner will be served from
5:30 to 6:30 and all Elks in the
community are particularly
urged to attend and are permit
ted to bring guests. Leonard
states that the affair Is strictly
stag and from present indica
tions will be a huge success.
THE GRANGE
LIVE OAK GRANGE
Live Oak grange met in reg
ular session at their hall Mon
day night with Master Marshall
acting. Plans were completed
for the Christmas party to be
held at the next meeting, Dec.
20. Committees were appointed
to act Saturday night whenH.
. C. will hold a pie social and
bazaar. Buns, hamburger, pie
and coffee will be sold begin
ning near 6 o'clock. All ladies
are requested to bring two pies.

were read for membership.
Refreshments were served by
th committee, Elda Hall, Ann

ley and much work was done.
At noon pot-luck dinner was
enjoyed. All plans were com
pleted for the social and bazaar.
Mrs. Myrtle Whipple was re
elected H. E. C. chairman; Mrs.
Pearl Greenwood, vice chair
man; Mrs. Zorah Wiley, secre
tary and Mrs Belle Hart, treas
urer. On Friday Mrs. Green
wood and Mrs. Lulu Trotter met
at the Whipple home where
with Mrs. Whipple's help the
grange quilt was tied and fin
ished. Next H. E. C. meeting
will be all day at the Grange
hall on Tuesday, Dec 21, when
"Secret Pals" will give their
Christmas presents and became
known and names will be drawn
for the next year. All ladies
come and make this Merry
Christmas party. A covered
dish lunch will be the noon
feature. As work a quilt will
be tied for Sister Wiley.

Gold Hill, Dec. 8 Members
of the Ladies' Aid will serve a
turkey dinner in the dining
room of the Methodist church in
Gold Hill, on Dec. 11, from 8 to
8 p. m. The menu has been an
nounced as follows: Turkey and
dressing, .potatoes, cranberries,
vegetables, salad, home-made
pies and coffee. Nominal prices
will prevail and a large crowd is
anticipated.
Mrs. Thomas A. Robinson, Jr.,
of Denver, Colo., is a guest of
her husband's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. T. A, Robinson and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Matthews
and two children of Klamath
Falls, former residents of this
city, visited Mrs Matthews
mother, Mrs. Cal Dusenberry
and family, last Sunday. Mrs
Matthews had been called to
Medford by the critical illness oi
her father, George Iverson, who
passed away Sundry following
an operation.
Pfc. Kendall Dufur spent the
past week here with his aunts,
Mrs. Wm. Puhl and Mrs. Llllie
MacKay. He is stationed with a
medical corps at Barnes General
hospital, Vancouver, Wash.
Date for the annual Christmas
tree and program, sponsored by
the Odd Fellow lodge will be an
nounced soon. The program is
in charge of a committee from
the Rebekah lodge. All children
wishing to appear on the pro
gram are requested to see some
one on the program committee

Newnham, Mrs. Frank Carter
and Mrs. Noel Kellogg. Also
Mrs. Burt Kenyon, grade school
teacher.
Members of the Garden club
will meet in the W. R. C. hall
on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 2 o'clock
to make tray pieces of ever
greens for use at Camp White,
during the holidays. Since the
local club is expected to furnish
100 of these, it is hoped that
many members will attend this
meeting to help with the pro)
cct. Bring wire, pliers, scissors,
etc. The annual club Christmas
pot-luck dinner and party will
be held In the same hall on Fri
day, Dec. 17, commencing at 12
noon. Following the dinner wil
be the gift exchange, when
"weedy" friends' names will be
revealed. Everyone is invited to
this party and may bring a gift
for exchange.
