ELMER R. LUCAS
KILLED AT CAMP
Camp White, Oct 27 Elmer
R. Lucas, civilian, aged 68, em
ployed at Camp White in the
road and drainage department,
Post Utilities, Post Engineers,
was fatally injured Monday
morning in an accident on the
corner of Avenue "B" and Crater
Lake highway.
An employe of the Post Engi
neers since February, Mr. Lucas
was hauling gravel for repair of
the camp roads when the fatal
accident occurred. He apparently
.dipped from the running-board
of the dump truck and was
crushed beneath the wheels. He
was rushed immediately to the
station hospital, where he died
i it 12:20 p. m. Monday.

daughter at 707VS West 11th
street, in Medford. Remains have
been moved to the Perl Funeral
Home in Medford.
A board of officers has been
' appointed to investigate the ac
cident. '
Funeral services for Mr. Lucas
will be conducted from the Perl
Funeral Home Saturday at 2
p. m., with the Rev.' D. E. Millard-
officiating. Interment will
take place in Siskiyou Memorial
Park.
Mr. Lucas had resided in
southern Oregon for the past 35
years and for many years farmed
in the Beagle district. The de
ceased was born at Telluride,
Colo., June 21, 1885. Surviving
are a daughter. Miss Ina Pearl
Aucas, who made her home with
Ther father; one sister, Mrs. L.
W. Jordan of Grand Junction,
Colo., and two brothers, Arthur
and Dewey Lucas of Denver,
Colo. ..
Mr. Lucas was a long-time.
member ' of the Sams Valley
Grange and held Degree of Hon

ningham, Cascade Gorge, passed
away In a local hospital early
Wednesday morning at the age
of 10.
He was born In Medford on
Feb. 13, 1933, and had spent his
entire life at Cascade Gorge. He
had been attending the Prospect
school but was unable to start
this fall on account of his health.
Besides his parents he leaves a
brother, Thomas, at home, and
a sister, Miss Elizabeth Cunning
ham, Ashland.
Services will be held in Con
ger's chapel, Monday at 3 p. m.,
with the Rev. Louis C. Kirby of
ficiating. Interment will be in
Siskiyou Memorial Park.

Millard W. Grubb, postmaster
at Ashland, passed away about
9 p. m. yesterday at the Veter
an's hospital in Portland, ending
an illness of about two months.
Funeral services will be held
from the Elks temple in Ash
land at 2 p. m. Saturday. . ..
Taken ill August 23 of this
year, Mr. Grubb was admitted
to the hospital August 27. He
has remained there since that
time, and apparently was mak
ing some improvement until
shortly before he succumbed to
the illness.
Mr. Grubb began his career
in the postal organization when
he became a member of the
Ashland staff in June of 1914.
Promoted to assistant post
master in January, 1920, he
served in that capacity until this
year when his appointment as
postmaster became effective.
- Born and raised in Ashland,
Mr. Grubb has lived there all
his life. He graduated from Ash
land high school, being one of
the early athletes at the school.
He was a veteran of : World
War I.
Mr. Grubb was active in many
organizations and at the time of
his Jeath was a past master of
the Blue Lodge, past commander
of the Commandry, past poten
tate of Hillah Temple Shrine,
past exalted ruler of the Ash
land Elks lodge. No. 944, pa3t
commander of the American Le
gion, a member of the Eastern
Star and associate guardian of
Job's Daughters Bethel No. 22
in Ashland.
Survivors include his wife,
Rachel, who has recently been
in Hornbrook, Calif., with her
mother and is now in Ashland:
a ten year old son, Walker, liv
ing in Ashland; several -brothers
and sisters, Mrs. Ella True of

Woodford, Ore., Frank Grubb of
