Purse Stolen Mrs. Louis
Brown of 737 W. Jackson Blvd.
reported to city police yesterday
that her purse was stolen last
Saturday from the Masonic
building on W. Main street
where she was assisting at the
P. E. O. rummage sale. The
purse, of red patent leather,
contained ration books, bank
book, car keys, driver's license,
and change.

Eagles To Meet Crater Lake
Aerie No. 2093 and Auxiliary,
Fraternal Order of Eagles, will
meet Thursday at 8 p. m. in the
armory. The Aerie will hold
initiation, and the Auxiliary will
celebrate its anniversary. All
members of the Aerie and all
ladies attending are asked to
bring a pumpkin pie. Any mem
ber having a donation for the
carnival is asked to bring that
to the meeting. A dance will
conclude the evening.

bert R. Fitzgerald has arrived
from Alaska, where he spent
nearly three years with the
army, arid will visit for two
weeks with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. F. H. Fitzgerald of Sams
Valley. Sgt. Fitzgerald is en
route to Florida where he is to
be stationed. The young man
stopped in Astoria to visit his
brother, Pfc. ' Jerome WV Fitz
gerald and his wife. The Fiti
geralds have another son, Lt
Gerald A. Fitzgerald, who is
stationed in Hawaii.
Monroe Commissioned Low
ell W. Monroe, Medford man
serving overseas in an infantry
division, was recently commis
sioned a second lieutenant, ac
cording to word received here
by his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Lowell Monroe of 319 Ashland
avenue. A graduate of Medford
high school, Lt. Monroe was a
member of the local National
Guard company for three years,
and was called into the service
with that unit three years ago.
He was first stationed at Ft.
Lewis, Wn., and has been over
seas, "someplace in New Gui

Funeral services for Margaret
Edmonds Spannaus, 71, who
passed away suddenly in a
Klamath Falls hospital yester
day, will be held Thursday at
10:30 a. m. at the First Baptist
church in Medford, the Rev,
Wolford A. Dawes officiating.
Immediately following the serv
ices the body will be sent to
Montague, Calif., for burial In
thasta cemetery.
Born in the Antelope district
near Medford, Mrs. Spannaus
spent most of her life in Med'
ford and vicinity. She moved to
Klamath Falls three months ago
when she was married to Charles
Spannaus. For many years fol
lowing the death, eight years
ago, of her first husband, Sam
Edmonds, she made her home
at 920 Beatty street in this city.
Mrs. Spannaus was a member of
the First Baptist church.
Survivors include several chil
dren of the first marriage: L. E.
