77 HIS is our war.. Our men are in it . . at the front
Ji or on their way. Our money is in it . .", war bonds
stamps taxes. Our sacrifice is in it . . . rationing, scarci
ties, priorities. We can do more . ! . We can help win the
war sooner and with a minimum loss of life. We can
give our fighters, our allies and their families, the great
est weapon of them all the will to win. We could do
more if we could be there and we can be, there through
a prompt and generous gift. ,
Expressing everyday concern in a million kindly ways
at the USO . . . controlling and preventing diseases
which cost so many man hours on both the fighting and
production lines ... keeping alive the will to live . for
millions of war prisoners stagnating in the prison camps
of the world . . . relieving weariness and strain among
men who grimly sigh on again and again for merchant
seamen's duty, despite torpedoes, icy water and burning
oil. .
Keeping valiant allies fighting because we care enough
to save their lives, their families, their spirit, and their
resolve. . Aiding the escape of countless refugees from
the terrors of war, and rescuing the hope of our allies,
their children from further panic, starvation, neglect
and degradation. v
Providing life saving medicines for the treatment of
both civilians and armed forces of our allies. Replanting
the ravaged lands with seed . . crushed hearts with hope.
Teaching the crippled to walk again . . . preventing
illness ... sheltering the orphans of family dissolution
and separation. '
Giving guidance, encouragement, education and in
creasing purpose to the young who must soon man our
nation, and bolstering community strength in the place
where it lives the' family.
A thousand services . . . a million kindnesses . . . are
wrapped up in your single gift to the Medford Commu
nity and War Chest. It will cover a federation of agen
cies stretching around the world and will reach into the
lives of our fighting forces, our allies and their families.
A speedier Victory, a friendlier understanding will
come because the American people cared, enough to give
voluntarily! Giving is Fighting too!
