Slated Sunday at
' Nazarene Church
Sunday will be "home cbmlne
day" at the Church of the Naza
rene, Holly and First streets,
marking the fourth Sunday in
the month's series of special
efforts throughout the denomi
nation to contact a million peo
ple. Goal- for the local church
is 1500 contacts, according to
the pastor, the Rev. Fred W.
Weatherford. .
A number of improvements
totaling $1,500 have been made
at the church this summer, the
pastor revealed today, the work
including finishing of three Sun
day school rooms installation
of - a stairway for the north
entrance, a cold air return for
the heating unit, Installation of
three gas heating units, instal
lation of a sawdust dump and
driveway thereto.
The church here has main
tained a steady growth since
its organization , April 2, 1922,
according to Rev. Weatherford,
and has more than doubled its
membership In the last 10 years.

SCAN ACCIDENTS
The grand Jury to be drawn
at opening of the October term
of circuit court next Monday at
10 a. m. will Investigate fatal
accidents occurring in this
county in the past three months,
District Attorney George W.
Neilson reports. The list In
cludes the recent East Main
street crash, resulting in the
death of one Mexican national
and injury to 14 fellow-countrymen;
the auto plunge in the
Siskiyous, in which three were
killed and the fatal hunting ac
cident this fall in the Butler
Peak district.
The new grand Jury will con
sist of the first seven names
drawn from the jury box at
opening of court.
The criminal calendar for the
new term will be light. A large
percentage of defendants ac
cused of felonies have entered
pleas of guilty and received
sentences. A number of pend
ing civil actions, however, are
scheduled for trial.
