While the enrollment of male
students has declined about 80
per cent, it was announced, a
somewhat heavier enrollment of
women and the assignment of
military units to various units
of the system will bring the en
rollment close to the 1942 fig-'
ures. '
The highly Intensive super
vision of the work of the mili
tary students will send the de
mand for faculty time and fa
cilities ahead of those of last
year. Men's enrollment la off
about 80 per cent.
Contrary to the expectations
of Chancellor Hunter and Sec
retary Byrne, -the women' en
rollment is showing a alight in
crease. Total civilian figures,
based on an analysis of the whole
situation, will be about 4000 in
the six state institutiong, as
against 8000 last year. The num
ber of men In the military units,
mostly army, medical corps, and
the army air force, is 3360, mak
ing a total estimate for the terra
of 7360.
