Kellogg Returns J. Boyce
Kellogg left Monday evening
for Bremerton, Wash., where he
is stationed with the navy.
Kellogg, a first class petty of
ficer, had been In Medford to
spend a leave with his wife and
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. E.
Kellogg, all of whom reside at
1826 N. Riverside avenue. Be
fore going into the navy Kel
logg was employed in the Med
ford postoffice.

Daugherty Her Ensign Bur
ton A. Daugherty, U. S. N. R.,
left Medford Monday after
spending a two weeks leave
visiting friends and relatives
here. Ensign Daugherty has
been on duty In the south Pa
cific for the past nine months,
since he received his commis
sion upon graduation from Yale
in Dec, 1942. While attending
Yale, Daugherty received the
Medill-McCormick scholarship,
and on graduation received a
bachelor of science degree from
the school of economics. He Is
also a graduate of Medford high
school, and was employed at
one time by the Medford Cor
poration. He Is the son of Mrs.
W. L. Coombs of 704 N. Central
avenue, and a brother of How
ard V. Daugherty of this city.

Market To Reopen The Meat
Center at 231 E. Sixth street
wil reopen Friday, Oct. 29, and
will be operated by Ed Horsch,
who purchased the concern from
the former owner, Jack Bickler,
on July 17. The market has
been closed since that time.
Return Mrs. H. O. Youmans
and two brothers, Randell and
Edward Olson, returned to Med
ford yesterday from Detroit
Lakes, Minn., where they spent
a month with their mother, Mrs.
Tom Olson, who has been seri
ously ill. Another brother, Oliv
er Ulson, remained there.
Eagles Meeting Crater Lake
Aerie No. 2093 and auxiliary,
Fraternal Order of Eagles, will
meet In the K. P. hall at Grape
and Fifth streets Thursday at
8 p. m. Initiation will be held,
with a dance to conclude the
evening. The worthy president,
Ora Meyers, requests that all

Wall, who Is employed as an
electricians' helper In an Ala

home by her sister, Mrs. Gerald
Boshears, who had spent 10 days
visiting her In Alameda. Mrs.
Boshears' husband, Lt Gerald
Boshears, was In Sacramento
for a day and visited with his
wife there.
In Mississippi Pvt. William
G. Meyers, inducted Into the
army about a month ago, has
been assigned to the headquar
ters company of an Infantry
division at Camp Van Dora,
Miss., according to a letter from
Meyers to his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. O. E. C. Meyers. 422 Park
Ave. Before going into the army
Pvt. Meyers was employed in
Portland and he and Mrs.
Meyers made their home at 2233
N. E. 20th St. Mrs. Meyers is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Nephew Lost Word has been
received in Medford by Mrs,
Royal E. Bebb, S28 S. Grape
St., that her nephew. Lester R,
Bessell, Jr., was one of the crew
aboard an American destroyer,
which was sunk by mine explo
sions near Salerno in the Medi
terranean Sept 11. The young
man was the only son of Mrs.
Bebb s sister, Mrs. Lester R,
Bessell of Rldgewood, N. J.,
and was considered an acconv
plished violinist. At the time of
enlisting in the navy In August,
1942, he was a student at Rens
selaer college, Troy, N. Y.
