In Arkansas Jack Kresse, ar
my aviation student, has been
assigned to Ouachita college,
Arkadelphia, Ark., for five
months of instruction, according
to a dispatch from the college.
Following completion of the
course the young man will be
classified as a pilot, navigator
or bombardier and be assigned
for further training. He is the
son of Dr. and Mrs. A. F. W.
Kresse, 1033 Queen Anne Ave.
Davis Chosen E. J. Davis, sta
tioned for the past month at
Camp Peary, Va., for his recruit
training in the Seabees, has been
selected for special training in
a stevedore's battalion, according
to word received from him by
Mrs. Davis. Mr. Davis stated that
he was to be trained in the pro
cedure of loading a cargo ship.
But three men in the outfit, all
from Oregon, were selected for
the special training. The Davis
home is at 202 Portland Ave.
Articles Stolen Three per
sons reported to city police the
theft of articles yesterday and
last night. Elmer Ryan, 528
South Oakdale avenue, said a
green rayon auto robe was stolen
out of his car Monday night. Er
nest Conrad, 713 Dakota ave
nue, said a spotlight was stolen
last night from his car, parked
in a service station. Ed Powell,
106 East 12th street, reported a
pair of engineer's boots, size 7,
were taken from his porch yes

Center in Medford Thursday
night The auction, being ar
ranged by Charles S. Adair of
the M M Department store, will
have up for sale in bonds only

The variety show will feature
musical numbers, acrobatic danc
ing and community singing and
is being arranged by Lloyd Rupp
and his bond selling committee.

ment store auction which are
expected to attract much atten
tion are rubber boots, bed sheets,
all-wool blankets, cleansing tls-
ues, shoes, dresses, sweaters
and other articles. Mr. Adair
stated that in many instances
the purchaser would be allowed
to visit the store and select the
article himself. The department
store manager is also offering
$25 merchandise orders to the
first purchasers of $10,000 bonds,
one for out-of-city residents and
one for residents of Medford
proper.
