REQUESTS
RETURN OF LOST
The war price and rationing
board In the city hall asked yea
terday that anyone finding ra
tion books of any kind to return
them to the local war price and
ration board immediately. The
boolu may be given to any serv
Ice station man and they will re
turn them to the ration office,
if this is easier, board officials
stated.
Ration board officials also ex
plained the difficulty that resi
dents will have in securing an
other ration book if the first one
has been misplaced, lost or de
stroyed. It is necessary to prove
conclusively to board members
that the book has been lost or
destroyed and then a waiting
period will follow before a new
book is issued. Those applying
for a book to replace a lost one
must make an affidavit and
have It signed before notary
public, notify the police and the
rationing board. In many in
stances the lost books are re
covered during the waiting per
iod, board members explained.

the past 18 years, passed away
at a local hospital Thursday eve
ning at the age of 57 years.
Mrs. Whitelaw waa born In
Sweden on November 21, 1885,

when she was two years of age
She spent her early life nt
Minneapolis, Minn., where she
leaves to mourn her loss, two
brothers, Eric and John West
lund, and three sisters, Mrs.
Hulda Kreutzlan, Mrs. Mabel
Turner, and Mrs. Amelia West.
During her long residence In
Medford she had made a host
of friends. Funeral services will
be held at the Perl funeral home
on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30
o'clock, Rev. Karl Brockhaus.

John Bryan, 38. grandson of the
late William Jennings Bryan,
was found dead today In his
Greenwich Village studio apart
ment. Bryan, an artist, was the
son of Mrs. Ruth Bryan Owen
Rohde, former minister to Den
mark. He dropped the name
Owen some time ago. His body
was found near a desk by the
superintendent. Police said he
apparently had fallen from a
chair to the floor.
