Fire-Burned Ranges
of Nevada Reseeded

of acres of valuable Nevada
rangeland, burned over by the
disastrous fires of the summer,
are being reseeded by airplane.
An airplane, owned by the IT.
S. government and assigned to
the bureau of entomology, is be
ing used to strew a special seed
mixture over the burned-over
areas,
Clyde Bryant, an employee of
the bureau of entomology, la es
pecially trained for the danger
ous task of reseeding a task
which, it was pointed out, is
probably more dangerous than
the highly publicized Job of the
airplane crop-dusters.
Flying never more than IS
feet above the ground. In his
specially-built plane, Bryant uses
one ton of seed per hour, cover
ing the ground at the rate of two-
to-three pounds an acre.
The seeding will be continued
through the early winter months,
until an estimated 15,000 acres
is reseeded.

a load capacity of 1,000 pounds.
