A reforestation program that
will, within a few years, form i
green corridor along the Wolf
Creek highway from Portland to
the sea through the Tillamook
Burn area, was announced to
day The anniversary of the start
of the fire that swept over 300,
000 acres from A'igush 14 to 25.
1933. was chosen for announce
ment of the program by Orville
Miller. Portland 'umberman and
spokesman for members of the
Industry planning it.
The reforestation will be on
state-owned land but will be fi
nanced by lumber operators.
Miller said, in an effort to In
crease public consciousness of
the need for forest fire preven
tion as well as to provide a na
tural re-seeding area for adja
cent privately owned land In the
Bum.

Mr. and Mrs, Joe Blair and son
Norman received a phone call re
cently from their son Raymond, in
the army tn Hawaii. The call came
through very clearly and although
the conversation had to be confined
to certain regulations. It was an
interesting five minutes for the fam
ily. BUI Pendleton of Ashland, former
ly of this city where he attended
school for several years, left for
Portland last week after Joining the
navy.
