street, were hosts to the em
ployes of Montgomery Ward
store yesterday at a picnic at
the Brown's summer home on
the Rogue river. Swimming and
games were enjoyed.
Return Here Miss Catherine
Stewart, secretary to A. S. Cum
mins, president of the California
Oregon Power company in this
city, and Mrs. Georgine Moffitt,
also employed by Copco, have
returned here following several
days spent in Roseburg visiting
friends and relatives.
Attend Games Among Ash
land residents attending the
Medford-Klamath Falls baseball
game at the fairgrounds park
yesterday were I. R. Frideger
and Art Gilbert. Darby O'Toole
and Paul Hess, also of Ashland,
attended the game Saturday
night between the same two
teams.
Back From Calif ornia Mr.
and Mrs. A. C. Lucas have re
turned to their home in this
city following three weeks in
San Francisco, Cal., where Mr.
Lucas underwent a major oper
i ation at the Southern Pacific
hospital. He has returned to his
work with the Southern Pacific
company.
Fishes Moshe Menuhin, fa
ther of Yehudi Menuhin, world
famous violinist, spent part of
today boat-fishing on Rogue
river between Dodge bridge and
Savage Rapids dam with Frank
J. VanDyke, civilian defense
coordinator. Mr. Menuhin, with
Mrs. Menuhin, are here visiting
their son-in-law and daughter,
Corp. arid Mrs. Benjamin Rolfe.
Corp. Rolfe is stationed at Camp
White. Mrs. Rolfe is an accom
plished pianist.
Visit Here Bruce Milton Lev-
erette has returned to the home
of his mother, Mrs. Walter Lev-
erette, 611 South Oakdale ave
nue after a visit in Los Angeles
with his sister, Mrs. Dorene War
ren. He was accompanied to
Medford by another sister. Miss
Jeanne Leverette of Los Angeles,
who will visit here several weeks
' with her mother. Bruce has en-
listed in the navy reserve, M2
and expects to be called this
summer for small craft coast
patrol duty.

dresses listed, were operators of
passenger cars involved In
minor collision on the Crater
Lake highway near the Herb
Peery service station Sunday at
5:15 a. m., according to a report
on file. Charles R. Linn of 321
Edwards and Alvin Harold Ran
dolph of 20 Lincoln street, the
former driving a motorcycle and
the latter a panel truck, collided
at the intersection of West Main
and Lincoln streets Friday at
6:10 p. m., according to a filed
report. The vehicles were badly
damaged.
Attends Funeral Mrs. Grace
Beck of Fruitdale attended the
funeral of Mrs. Mary Middle-
b usher in this city Saturday.
Forfeit Ball Harry M. Fisher
and Earl Cooper, charged with
being drunk In a public place,
forfeited $10 bail In the City po
lice court today.
Scholarship Friends In this
city have received word that
Miss Betty Peek, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. George Peek of Grants
Pass was one of four high school
graduates In the state of Oregon
to receive a years scholarship
to Oregon State college from the
scholarship fund of the Standard
Oil company. She is the grand
daughter of the late Alice Trow
bridge of this city.
Take Billfold William O. Linn
of the Crater hotel reported to
city police yesterday that he
picKed up four hitchhikers at
Red Bluff, Cal., Saturday eve
ning en route north. Becoming
sleepy unn let one of the hitch
hikers drive his car. He awoke
and found the car parked on a
Medford street and his billfold
containing currency, a war bond
and papers missing, he reported
to ponce.
Visits Parents Sergeant Wal
ter S. Gillette of San Bruno.
Cal., arrived here this morning
for a three-day stay with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W.
Gillette of 506 Union avenue.
Sergeant Gillette left Medford
last summer as a private and
has been advanced to the rank
of sergeant. He is radio main
tenance and service man with
the U. S. army air corps, Mills
field, San Bruno.

fic signs. Boyd Irving Thomas
of this city was cited to Justice
court for operating an automo
bile without a driver's license.
