Joan Vroman
Weds Mr. Wilcox
At Baptist Church
The First Baptist church In
this city was the scene of the
wedding last Sunday of Miss
Joan Vroman and Lester A,
Wilcox, Jr., of Portland, both
former Medford residents. Miss
Vroman Is the granddaughter
of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Vroman
of this city and Mrs. Wilcox,
the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. A,
Wilcox of route 2.
The double ring ceremony
was read at B p. m. by the Rev,
W. A. Dawes In a setting of
roses and mixed spring bou
quets and white tapers. Mrs.
Don Piatt sang "Because" and
"I Love You Truly" accompa
nied by the bride's aunt, Mrs,
Henry Huenergardt. Traditional
wedding music was played on
the organ as the wedding party
entered the church.
The bride, given In marriage
by her uncle, C. D. Vroman of
Phoenix, wore a gown of Ivory
satin, fashioned princess style
with train and long sleeves
Jler tulle veil was held In place
by Cecil Bruner rosea. She car
ried a bouquet of gardenias,
sweet peas and rosebuds. She
was attended by her sister, Mrs.
Kenneth Davis of College Place
Wash., as matron of honor. Mrs.
Davis wore a princess style,
blue lace gown and carried a
colonial bouquet of rosebuds.
Miss Pauline Vroman, sister
of the bride from Portland, was
bridesmaid. She wore blue lace
and Miss Marjorie Vroman,
bridesmaid, cousin of the bride,
wore pink chiffon. Both carried
colonial bouquets. Priscilla Anne
Davis, tiny niece of the bride,
was flower girl. She wore a
long printed voile dress and
scattered rose petals.
The bride's aunt. Mrs. C. D.
Vroman, chose a rose ensemble
with black accessories and a
rosebud corsage. The bride
groom's mother wore a green
silk outfit with beige acces
sories and corsage of roses
and sweet peas.
John W. Newman was best
man. Ushers were Don Minear
and Glen Iamb and honorary
ushers. Merle Kaufman and
Tyley Evans.
Following the wedding a re
ception honored the wedding
party In the church parlors.
The room was arranged with
flowers and a three-tiered wed
ding cake was first cut by the
bride. Assisting were Mrs. Wal
lace Freeland, Mrs. John New
man, Miss Evelyn Brockway,
Miss Vernie Davenport and Miss
Bertie Brown. Groom's cake
was distributed by Jerry Mc
Dougal and Jean McDougal.
During .the reception Madame
Pearl Ladd of San Francisco,
friend of the bride, sang "By
the Waters of Mlnnatonka" and
"My Hero" from 'The Choco
late Soldier." Madame Ladd
has appeared In major roles of
Gilbert and Sullivan operas
throughout the world, also sing
ing before royalty in England
and Spain.

Mrs. A. J. Moore, grandmother
of the bridegroom; Skilcs Hoff
man, cousin of the bride; Dr.
Iluby L. Hoffman, aunt of the
bride, and Madame Ladd, all
of San Francisco; Mr. and Mrs.
O. G. Vroman of Klamath Falls,
uncle and aunt of the bride,
and Miss Charlotte McDougnl,
of Portland, aunt of the bride
groom. For traveling the bride wore
a three-piece suit of RAF blue
with rust and white accessories
and a gardenia corsage.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox will
make their home In Milwaukie.
Mrs. Wilcox is employed at the
Pacific Telephone and Tele
graph company In Portland and
Mr. Wilcox Is also employed in
that city. He recently gradu
ated from the Multnomah School
cf Bible In Portland.
The Newmans honored the
couple with a breakfast at the
Newman home Monday morn
ing and Saturday evening, June
13, a kitchen shower honored
the bride at the Newman home.

friends were present for the
occasion.

read May 11 in the Methodist

The bride wore a beige outfit
with brown accessories and a
corsage of orange rosebuds and
gardenias. She was attended by
Chloe Anderson.
Mrs. Walker, well-known In
southern Oregon, graduated
from Medford high school and
has been taking nurses training
at the French hospital in San
Francisco where she will com
plete her course In the fall.
They will make their home in
San Francisco where Mr. Walk
er is employed.

Club Inducts
Six New Members
Six new Navy mothers were
taken Into the Navy Mothers
club at the home of Mrs. Fran
ces MrConochie Thursday after
noon. Twenty mothers and three
visitors were present. At the
close of a short business session
a social hour was enjoyed and
refreshments served by the
hostess. The club will meet July
1 at the home of Mrs. Carrie
O'llarra, 495 North Main street,
Ashland.

Richard Wright of Medford were
married Friday evening at 8:30
o'clock In a candlelight cere
mony at the Phoenix Presbyter
ian church. The bride Is the
daughter of Mrs. Woodford Tur
pin of Phoenix and the bride
groom the son of Mr. and Mrs.
M. C. Wright of this city.
The bride, given in marriage
by Woodford Turpln, chose a
suit of RAF blue with beige ac
cessories and an orchid corsage.
She was attended by Miss
Marjorie Kettlewell, who wore a
brown street-length frock with
rose accessories and an orchid
corsage. Best man was Wayne
Wright, brother of the bride
groom and Warren Hayse and
Bill McMullen were ushers.
The bride's mother wore' a
navy blue suit with a gardenia
corsage and the bridegroom's
mother wore a powder-blue suit
with a gardenia corsage.
The ceremony was read in a
flower-decorated room and the
wedding party entered to tra
dition wedding music played
by 1,'tss Irene Stedman. Miss
Patricia Furry sang "Oh Prom
ise Me".
Following a wedding trip the
couple will make their home at
S2S Franquette street in this
city.

Here in 46 Years
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Randies
of Tacoma, Wash., returned to
their home yesterday after
spending two weeks visiting rela
tives and friends in southern
Oregon. Mr. and Mrs. Randies
are natives of southern Oregon,
both having been born In the
Lake Creek district.
Forty six years ago they
moved from this locality and
this is their first visit here since
leaving in 1896. Last Sunday
a family reunion was held In
Lithia park in Ashland. Those
present for the occasion were

Women's Relief
Corps Celebrates
50th Anniversary
The 80th celebration of the
founding of Chester A. Arthur
Women's Relief Corps In this
city was observed Thursday at
the Medford armory. Medford's
one charter member, Sarah An
drus was unable to be present
due to injuries received in an
accident recently.
The corps was founded in the
old G.A.R. hall June 30, 1892
by Mrs. Belle Llttrell who said
that 10 members formed the
nucleus for the organization
which is one of the oldest patri
otic organizations in the world.
Nettie Wolfe was the first corps
president.
The Rev. R. W. Coleman, pas
tor of the First Christian church
presented a talk on "America's
Day of Memories," a history of
the time during which the or
ganization of WRC has been
active. A welcome address was

Anna Harmon of Grants Pass,
representing the Grants Pass
corps, expressed her pleasure in
being present. Other visitors
were Laura Jones, representing
the U.S.W.V. auxiliary; Char
