Climaxing two week of fruit
ful activity, the daily vacation
Bible school of Zion English
Lutheran church was brought
to a close with a picnic Friday
noon at the rear of the church
for the children. The school was
under direction of the pastor,
the Rev. Karl W. Brockhaus,
with the assistance of Mrs. A.
Brewold, Mrs. H. Lagesen, Mrs.
K. Brockhaus, John Baglien and
David Dawson as teachers and
leaders. Over forty were enrolled.
At a special Children's day
service at the regular worship
hour Sunday at 11 a. m. young
people of the school will have
an active part in the service and
their work will be on display.
Attendance awards will be
made at this time. Members of
the confirmation class of 1942,
who will be received as commu
nicant members of the church
next Sunday, will be publicly
examined at the Children s day
service, the sacrament of Holy
Baptism will be administered,
and a special children sermon
presented by the pastor.

cus, one of the three largest now
touring America, will give a one
day performance in back of the
Jackson grade school Monday,
June 29. Doors to the menagerie
will open at 1 and 7 p. m., with
performances starting at 2 and
8 o'clock.
The circus includes a menag
erie, performing elephants,
trained horses and other ani
mals, together with all manner
of acrobats, aerial gymnasts,
tumblers, jugglers, equilibrists
and clowns all presented with
the traditional atmosphere of
the "big top."
