Swims For Navy Marion Al
vah Davis, formerly employed
on the Katheryn Hefferman
ranch, Hanly Lands, near here,
is one of the navy's aquatic stars
stationed at Camp Kidd, San Di
ego, Calif. Davis joined the
navy last March for duty in the
medical corps. He was a mem
ber of the navy team which re
cently participated In the Im
perial County swimming meet at
La Jolla Beach.

undercover agents' network is
not yet wiped out, Capt. Felis
berto Batiste Teixelra, chief of
the anti-espionage bureau, said

"The magnificent results of
our efforts thus far have not
been sufficient to assure that
the German military espionage
network is completely destroyed
in Brazil or even in the federal
district," Capt. Teixeira told a

OFF MARTINIQUE
San Juan, Puerto Rico, May 30
VP) The tenth . naval district
announced today the sinking of
an enemy submarine off the
French island of Martinique on
Wednesday by a navy pilot who
said he dropped four bombs
within four minutes on the un
dersea boat from an altitude of
only 50 to 100 feet.
The announcement confirmed
previous reports that a subma
rine had been sunk, but did not
make it clear whether it was
one of those engaged in attacks
on the United States Destroyer
Blakeley, which was torpedoed
off Martinique and attacked
again en route to the United
States naval base at St. Lucia.

Detroit, May 30 (P) A toll
of six persons dead and scores
injured were reported today
after a violent storm which
swept over lower Michigan last
night.
The storm, which lasted less
than half an hour, was particu
larly severe in Oakland county
