Donald of Tacoma will grapple
with handsome Pedro Brazil
South American champ, in the
one-hour main event of Promoter
Mack Lillard'i three-match pro
gram at the Medford armory
this evening.
Fans expect a ilugfest as both
men, favorites with Medforditcs,
are adept at that kind of play
although not having the reputa
tion of meanies. Sockeye is not
the type to dilly-dally with the
lens spectacular scientific wres
tling and Is a rough and tough
bull-dozing battler who, never
theless, manages to work with
out fouls.
Padro Can Take It
Pedro la willing to stay scien
tific as long as his opponent fol
lows suit. But he is also cap
able of unloosing rough stuff
and has a remarkable faculty of
being able to stand up under
punishment, lie has displayed
this ability by winning five of
his six bouts in the Medford
arena and thereby establishing
himself as probably the best op
position Lillard could find to
face the ex-timberman.
The crushing Irishman, Jim
Casey, whose grappling Medford
fans have well approved, tangles
with the Oswego ring veteran,

semi-windup event. Blonde,

Oakland's string of consecu
tive victories was broken Sun
day, but the Oaks won one game
of their doublchcadcr with Port
land and that, combined with
Hollywood's double victory over
Seattle, was enough to boost
them into first place in the coast

place, dropped to second, while
San Francisco advanced from

Urged by Veterans

The Oregon American Legion
urged yesterday that universal
military service be put into ef
fect at once.
The resolution by the Legion's
executive committee also pro
posed the drafting of property In
wartime and the use of drafted
men in industry.
Commander Joseph K. Carson
Jr., recently ordered to army
duty as a reserve officer, offered
his resignation. The committee
refused to accept it while Cf rson
remains in Oregon.
The Cuban government con
trols all transactions involving
purchase, sale or distribution of
tires and tubes, the Department
of Commerce reports.
