Mr. Angu Todd, of Oakland,
sister of the bridegroom and Miss
Jessie Clark of this city. They
also wore white gowns and car
ried nosegay of sweet peas.
Evelyn Dixon, niece of the
bride, was flower girl. She wore
a long white dress and carried
a basket of flower petals. The
candle were lighted by the
bride' young brither, Billy
Todd.

church parlor, which also wa
decorated In white spring blos
soms. The service table wa cen
tered with the bride' cake and
lighted candles. The cake was
first cut by the bride. Assisting
at the reception was Mr. Clar
ence Tison.

chose a wool jacket suit of gin
ger trimmed In fur with brown
accessories and a gardenia cor
sage. The couple left for a short
wedding trip to the coast fol
lowing the reception.
Mrs. Ryerson is a graduate of
Medford high school and South
ern Oregon College of Educa
tion at Ashland. She is member
of the faculty of Junction City
schools. Mr Ryerson Is emploved
in Oakland by the Signal Gas
company.

Military Ball !
Closes Annual
Girls' League Week
The military ball held Friday
evening In the boys' gymnasium
at the high school climaxed an
active and colorful week for the
Girls' league. Turning the tables
on tradition, the fairer sex cap
tured the "buck privates" of the
high school for the dance, fin
anced all dating expenses and
did the "trading" of dances. In
keeping with the military motif.
the dance floor was called the
"White House" and decorations
were arranged in red, white and
blue.
Under the supervision of Miss
Moshberger, Girls' league ad
viser, the girls carried on a
series of social affairs during
the past week. Monday, a
special meeting was held to ac
quaint league members with the
rules and regulations to be en
forced during the week. In the
afternoon, freshmen girls to be
enrolled in senior hish next fall
were Invited from junior high
and were entertained and served
refreshments.
A combined girls' and boys'
league council luncheon was
held Tuesday noon with the
girls as hostesses. Wednesday
morning the girls presented an
assembly with Miss Janet Smith
of the University of Oregon as
guest speaker. Also during that
day the girls wore slacks, play
clothes and other informal at
tire. Thursday afternoon the an
nual spring tea and style show
were held by the girls in honor
of their mothers, and awards
were given to the following for
outstanding work: D. A. R.
homeinaker. Opal Ren bow and
Georgianne Weight; P. E. O.
award. Opal Benbow, and D. A.
R. good citizenship pilgrimage,
Jeanne Smith. Girls' league
merit awards were given to Ver
na Paulson and Barbara Brewer,
seniors; Natalie Parker and
Alice Day, Juniors, and Alice
Brill and Neysa Wall, sopho
mores. League officers during the
past year have been Miss Smith,
president: Miss Pringle, vice
president; Miss Taylor, secre
tary; Miss Tarker. treasurer with
Miss MosliluTger as adviser.
Company officers for the
week were Dorothy Durst and
Carol Tengwald, captains: Joyce
Vti and Mary Lou Lyman, first
lieutenants and Ada Nakagiri
and Neysa Wall, second lieuten
ants. As a special feature on
Friday a girl student was put in
charge of each class during the
day as "cadet teacher."

Miss Madeleine Metzger and
Charlea Ackerman, Jr., both of
Los Angeles were married Sun
day, March 29, In the study
of the Wllshire Presbyterian
church In Los Angeles by the
Rev. Clarence Wright.
The bride Is the daughter of
Mrs. Robert Metzger and the
late Robert Metzger of Jackson
ville and Mr. Ackerman, the
son of Charles Ackerman, Sr.,
of St Louis, Mo.
For her wedding outfit the
bride chose an ensemble of
black and pastel pink with pink
accessories.
Mrs. Ackerman attended jun
ior college at Ventura, Cal., and
business college in Los Angeles.
Upon graduation she accepted a
position in the offices of Dunn
and Bradstreet, resigning one
year ago to become a secretary
at the Vega Aircraft company.
Mr. Ackerman is a production
engineer associated with Vega
Aircraft company.
They are making their homo

Gray, who was transacting busi

Residents of Medford were
pleased with the opportunity of
hearing Miss Helen Judy, lyric
soprana, in concert at the First
Baptist church last Tuesday
evening with Mrs. O. C. Failing
as accompanist.
She presentd four groups of
numbers sacred and semi-classical
in theme, and those attend
ing reported the former Medford
vocalist well-poised with a voice
of fine quality.
Miss Judy is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Judy former
Medford residents, now living
in Eugene. She attended Uni
versity of Oregon and studied
under Petrle later going to Chi
cago for three and a half years
of vocal training under Phillip
Manuel. .
She plans to present a similar
concert In Eugene Tuesday even

Society To Present
Morgan Trio
To be presented In thl city
Tuesday evening, April 21 at the
First Mtthodist church under the
auspices of the Medford Musical
Society la the Morgan Trio.
Three talented sister, Marguer
ite, pianist, Frances, violin and
Virginia harpist compose a
popular musical group who have
been engaged in concerts in thl
country and Europe.
Virginia Morgan la a member
of the San Francisco symphony
orchestra, under the direction of
Pierre Monteaux. and Is on the
music faculty at Mills College.
With an original background
of New England tradition, the
three sisters studied and trav
eled abroad and now hold an
important place in the San Fran
cisco musical circles.
Their chamber music group,
which they themselves have col
lected and arranged. Include
music from the 13th century to
modern composers and they have
established a precedent In always
playing their entire program
from memory.
Some of their audiences have
included President and Mrs. F.
D. hoosevelt, the kings of
Sweden and Denmark, Pr.ncess
Mary of England, the Duke of
Connaught and the Prince and
Princess Nicholas of Greece. Also
prominent in their list of sue
essful appearance' as British
Broadcasting Empire programs
and many continental radio
stations.

Club Meets At
Pierce Home
Mrs. A. C. Pierce was hostess
to the Medford Garden club
at her home on Pierce heights
Thursday afternoon. A round
table discussion on problems
arising in the rock garden was
held, taking the place of a
talk on "Protecting Our Native
Plants" by Mrs. Raymond Driv
er, who was unable to be pres
ent due to illness.
Many of the daffodils exhib
ited in the recent show held at
the Hotel Holland lobby were
grown by members of the club.
It was announced that the next
club meeting will be devoted
to the culture of Iris.
The district meeting of the
garden clubs of southern Ore
gon will be held in Klamath
Falls with Mrs. E. D. Lamb of
that city In charge. Members
are urged to attend. Mrs. J. W.
Jacobs of the local club Is do
nating two prizes to members
making the best scrap book
containing flower culture Infor
mation. Mrs. L. G. Gentner,
club president, is offering a
prize of choice plants or shrubs
to the one naming the great
est number of flowers In the
garden.

the tea hour were Mrs. W. H.

visited the rock gardens of Mrs.

Mrs. Baker is a senior in the
Klamath Falls high school, and
Mr. Baker Is a graduate of that
school. The couple will reside
in Klamath Falls.

Operetta Judged
Success By Audience
Parents and friend of Jack
son school students attended the
school operetta 'The Land of
Dreams Come True" at the school
gymnasium Friday evening.
Against a colorful stage setting
which was arranged by Ursula
Olge and the leisure arts classes.
the students presented the three
act musical production which
took place in fairyland.
The scene opened on a group
of children enjoying a holiday
in the woods, part of whom ate
some magic berries and were
taken tc "the land of dreams
come true," by a troupe of smil
ing, slnsjmg pixies. There they
met Mother Goose, all the nur
sery rhyme folk and discovered
the truth about the nursery
rhymes They returned to the
land of reality declaring that
their experience has not been
a dream.
Gay costumes characterized all
the Mother Goose land children
and the getting of the action in
this part of the operetta was
before a huge old shoe, the home
of the Old Woman with the many
children, and the tidy home of
Mother Goose.

The annual Junior Guild
Style show, to be held Monday,
April 20 at 7:30 p. m. at St.
Mark's Episcopal parish hall
will be a dessert aflair, followed
by an evening of cards for those
who care to play.
Plans for the show are pro
gressing rapidly and those par
ticipating will hold a dress re
hearsal for the event during
the coming week The script
promises to be entertained and
theme for the evening's show
ing is in keeping with national

Talent Girl
Weds In Setting
Of Easter Lilies
A setting of Easter lilies and
spring flowers formed the back
ground for the wedding of Mis
Agnes Emma Wheeler, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Wheeler
of Talent and John M. Vannlce,
son of C. E. Vannlce of Albany
last Sunday in Ashland with Dr.
George W. Bruce, pastor of the
First Methodist church, reading
the ceremony.
The bride wore a chiffon wed
ding gown over white satin with
a veil caught in place by orange
blossoms. With her gown she
wore lace stockings, worn by
her great great grandmother at
her wedding and by every brid
in the four generations in the
past 100 years, and given her
with a gold cross and chain by
her grandmother, Mr. Agne
Smith. She was given In mar
riage by her father.
Attending the bride were her
cousins, Betty White of Corval
lis as maid of honor and Louise
Deviney of Albany and AHca
Jacobsen of Corvallls as brides
maids. All wore pastel-shaded
chiffon frocks.

accessories. After a two weeks'
honeymoon in California they
will be at home in Ashland.
The bride attended Oregon State
college and was graduated from
Behnke Walker business college.

employed by Southern Pacific.
