State college honor roll for
winter term, having made 16

a freshman majoring in engi
peering. Fanger graduated from
Medford high school and won
a scholarship to the college at
Corvallis. He is a former Mail
Tribune employe.
Wind-Fanned Blaze
Destroys Residence

Fire fanned by a hWh wind
completely gutted the John R.
Moulton residence. IB Jcanette
street, during the noon hour
today.
The blaze, said by Fire Chief
Roy Elliot to be the worst resi
dential fire in several years,
was believed by Mrs. Moulton
to have originated from a defec
tive flue. Mrs. Moulton stated
that her three-year-old son first
noticed the flames In the bath
room. The blaze spread through
the attic and driven by the wind
left "only the shell of the resi
dence. Only a few belongings
were saved.
The property was not covered
by insurance.
Mrs. Moulton said that she
and her three children were at
home and that a small daughter,
in bed with the meales, was
cared for by neighbors.
Both pumper trucks answered
the call.

at the park office in the Medford
federal building after a five-day
trip to San Francisco where he
conferred with park officials on
park business.
Wardens To Meet Air raid
wardens of Jackson county will
meet in the courthouse audito
rium at 7:30 p. m. Wednesday,
tit which time the final plans
for distribution of the official
air raid instruction books will
be explained. At least two war
dens from each of the 26 county
precincts should attend the meet
ing, which will be short. Notices
of the meeting have been mailed
to all chief air raid wardens.

vesterday, according to rpports

passenger vehicles of Mrs. Pearl

struck a horse on the Crater

Reported Stolen Ralph Bard

to city police yesterday that an
English style blue coat with
Valor label was stolen from his
car in front of the building.
The coat was valued at $50.

Feather-light gas engine com

April 6 has been designated as
Total War Day, with civic org
anizations and groups in nation
al defense participating in ob
servance of the usual Army day
celebration.
The program, which will be
announced in detail in a l&ttsr
edition of the Mail Tribune, In
cludes a mass parade beginning
at 7.13 p.m. Monday In which
all organizations are asked to
participate. High officers of the
army will lead the parade which
terminates at the high school
football field where a practical
demonstration of burning incen
diary bombs will be given. A
demonstration of first aid and
speeches by officers of the U, S.
army and others is planned.
Parade preparations are in
charge of the Jackson county
council of civilian defense. Col
onel W. H. Paine will be marsh
all in the parade with George
Field as his assistant.
