with the federal government but
specific instructions would have
to come from Portland head

department of the California
Oregon Power company, said
the company would "do what is
necessary."
One observer said that the
county court and other state

would probably be guided by
the attitude adopted at Salem,
the capital. Although the coun
ty court was in session. Judge
Coleman said its attitude could
not be obtained in time for
publication today.
It was pointed out that In all
probability there would be gen
eral adherence to the daylight
saving time schedule as other
wise there would be much con
fusion, with Interstate com

such as postoffices, forest serv
ice offices, park service offices,
O-C office and others, operating
on the new time set-up while
intrastate business was conduct

Famous Old Comedy
In Revival Today
On Rial to Screen
Many "hit shows of yester
day" are brought back to thea
tre screens but It Is doubtful
if any of them reach so far
back Into the past as "Tillie's
Punctured Romance" which
shows today and tomorrow at
the Rialto theatre.
It was back In 1915 that
'Tillie's Punctured Romance"
first saw the light of day back
In the days when Charlie Chap
lin had first risen to eminence,
when Marie Dressier first start
ed her climb to stardom, when
Mabel Norman made the boys
hearts go "pitty-pat" and the
Keystone Kops sent theatre
audiences Into gales of laughter.
They're all in "Tillie's Punc
tured Romance," brought back
just to show present-day audi
ences the sort of screen fare
that was termed "entertain
ment" back in the so-called
good old days. And, believe It
or not, there are those who still
insist that the screen doesn't
show pictures that can compare
at all favorably with those pro
duced m those days. "Tillie"
will unquestionably put the
damper on a lot of requests for
repeat showings of the pictures
that were "hot stuff" when Ma
and Pa were young and foolish.
Sharing honors on the same
program with "Tillie" is the
p.cturiiation of George Bernard
Shaw'a "Major Barbara," going
from the ridiculous to the sub
lime, so to speak.
