Transferred First Lieut Bruce
Moffat has been transferred
from the infantry at Fort Lewis.
Wash., to the air corps and is
now adjutant of the 81st school
squadron, an advanced training
school at Stockton, Cal. Lieut.
Moffat was formerly an officer
of Company A, 186th infantry,
the old Medford national guard
outfit now In federal service at
Fort Lewis.

To Prison Three men were
taken from the county Jail today
by Sheriff Syd I. Brown to the
state prison In Salem where
they will start serving sentences
recently pronounced in circuit
court here. The men were Floyd
Sheppard, seven years for car
theft, Robert D. Foster, three
years, and Lloyd K. Dowler,
five years for passing worthless
checks.

yesterday for their San. Fran
cisco office after spending two
weeks here on recheck of
matters pertaining to the corpo
ration's appraisal of the land
surveyed for an army canton
ment. The corporation is an
agency of the federal govern
ment Ski Accidents Two ski acci
dents were reported at Crater
Lake Sunday, both Injured par
ties residing in Klamath Falls.
Don Saurer, 16, student, was
injured at 3 p. m. Sunday on
Knob Hill when he fell and
struck the tip of his ski, receiv
ing a puncture wound under his
Jaw. Jim Kilford of the ski
patrol applied first aid. Mary
Jane Metier, daughter of vV. S.
Metier, sprained her right knee
Sunday at 4 p. m. on a gentle
slope in the ski bowl. She was
brought to park headquarters
by Mark and Maiian Clark of
the ski patrol, assisted by Ralph
Hill. Miss Metier was taken to
Klamath Falls by friends.
Leader In the U. S. army air
corps only three weeks, Joe J.
Patton, former Medford resident
and one-time Mall Tribune car
rier, has already proved himself
a capable leader. It was stated
in a press release received todav
from Kelly Field-, Texas, t'atton
has been appointed a cadet
flight lieutenant. At Kelly Field
he will receive five weeks' of
basic military training leading
to advanced study that will
prepare him to be a pilot and
officer in the air corps. He is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor
Patton who now reside in San

County Chamber of Commerce

said, the applications may be
obtained directly from tire
dealers. After the application
has been filled out, it must be
approved by the board before
a tire may be Issued to the ap
plicant. Jackson county's quota for
January Is 56 tires and 47 tubes
for passenger cars and light
trucks and 13? tires and 115
tubes for trucks and busses.
The board will meet at 7:30
p. m. Friday in council cham
bers on the top floor of city hall.
All authorized tire dealers were
urged by the board to attend as
regulations and the set-up of in
spectors will be explained In
detail.
