to evacuate her young son by
percel post.

Leverlch, can be sent by parcel
post?
; ."Up to 70 pounds In weight
and 100 Inches In length," re
plied Leverlch.
"Can live things be sent?"
"Queen bees, non-poisonous
Insects, day-old chicks, etc.,
almost anything that isn't poi
sonous and can't bite the han
dlers," Leverlch read from the
postal regulations.
"Could I spnd my little boy,

The postmaster gulped, scratch
ed his head and talked fast to
convince the mother she should
use some means other than par
cel post for that purpose.

all horses and mules on the west
coast, between 3 and 10 years
old.

ters here. In calling today for
, such registration, said the census
of animals of a useful military
age "Is simply a most desirable
step In our defense prepara
tions," and that it is not a draft
of animal resources,
"Experience of the present
war shows the horse and mule

uses In modern armies," Colonel
Koester said.
