The American Federation of La
bor offered today to mske
peace with the CIO, ar sorting
in a declaration on war labor
policy that there was no place)
in the present emergency for
rival labor disputes.
The declaration was adopted
at a meeting of AFL officers. It
said:
"Wa regret sincerely and are
deeply concerned with the de
structive rivalry and organisa
tion that has beset the American
labor field for the past few
years. We hold all such rival
ries and jurisdictional conflicts
have no place In an emergency
such as faces America and th
world today. We, therefore, re
new our offer for unity In the)
labor movement and for the
common defense of our nation
against mortal danger. We hops
our call to this end may not be
In vain."
The declaration also went on
record in favor of a no-atrtke
policy for the duration of th
war, and recommend establish
ment of war labor board to
mediate dispute similar to that
of th last world war.
