MacDonald and Gene Raymond
play the sweethearts of the im
mortal ' Smilin' Through." also
starring Brian Aherne which
opens today at the Craterian
theatre.
Photographed In Technicolor,
the world famous love story
comes to the screen with rich
musical score by Herbert Stot
nart as well as an all-star cast
including Ian Hunter, Patrick
O'Moore, Frances Robinson and
little Jackie Horner.
"Smilin' Through" tells of an
, Immortal love which not even
death can kill. Not even the
death of his sweetheart at the
hands; of a jealous suitor on the
eve their wedding can make
Sir John Carteret forget the
lovely Moonyean. Miss MacDon
ald is seen as both Moonyean
and Kathleen, while Aherne
plays Sir John Carteret and
Gene Raymond Jeremy and
Kenneth Wayne. Norma Shear
er co-starred with Leslie How
ard in an earlier version of the
story in 1932.
Nine familiar tunes and old
fashioned baliads are sung by
Miss MacDonald. .

Comedy On Rialto
Screen For Today
"Two major features on every
bill" Is again the policy of the
: Rialto theatre where two of the
season's top-notch features open
for today and tomorrow at the
Main. Street theatre. Returning
by popular demand of Rialto
patrons, the "two major feat
ures on every program" will
play for all changes hereafter.
"Married Bachelor" heads the
double bill for today and to
morrow with Robert Young,
Ruth Hussey, Lee Bowman andi
Felix Bressart 4n the starring
roles. Hilarious situations are
said to be all through the film
when Young attempts to pose
as a bachelor authority on mar
riage, and keep his wife, Ruth
Hussey, happy at one and the
same time. It all happens when
Miss Hussey tries to reform her
husband, who Is nothing but a
beloved fraud. In his attempt
to "go straight" he becomes in
volved with a gangster, his moll
and the sheriff. Complications
arise that make for one of the
funniest comedies since the
"Thin Man" series.
"Charlie Chan In Rio," star
ring Sidney Toler as th fam
ous Oriental sleuth, plays as
the companion feature with
"Married Bachelor." The popu
lar detective invades the South
American continent and finds
his most baffling case in the
city of Rio de Janeiro.
