T. B. Eddington, who wag ac
cldently killed In a logging
camp near Glendale, Ore., Wed
nesday, an account of which ap
peared in yesterday'! paper, was
born In Webster county, Mo ,
June 8. 1882. He cam to Jack
son county at the age of 10 and
has resided here since.
He attended the schools at
Central Point where they re
sided for 10 years before mov
ing to Sams valley. He was mar
ried in 1905 to Ethel Rowe who
survives. One son is left, Virgil
A. Eddington of Anchorage,
Alaska. Also his father, W. W.
Eddington of Sams valley and
two sisters and one brother,

Fort Custer, Mich., Dec. 5.
WV-Sgt. Henry Greenberg, who
was called from the Detroit
Tigers' outfield to become
soldier, said farewell to the
United States army today and
planned to resume the life of a
baseball player.
Greenberg declared his big
gest thrill of leave-taking was
that "now I am able to become
a ballplayer again."
, Greenberg, who will be 31
i years old January 1, qualified
i for release under the army nil-
C ing that men over 28 may be
discharged. He now becomes a
member of the army's trained
reserve. Last night, as he put
aside his uniform, the sergeant
gathered together a gang of his
soldier friends and treated them
to a party at nearby Kalamazoo,
Mich.

TAKEN BY DEATH
Joseph J. Tryon, prominent
resident of Talent for the last
IS years, passed away In a local
hospital late Thursday evening
at the age of 67.
Born in Kansas City, Kansas,
luly 14, 1874, he came to Ore
,on at the age of 14 and was
named, at Albany in 1897 to
-ena Curl and has been engaged
in the mercantile business since
that time. Mr. and Mrs. Tryon
came here from Portland where
he sold out his store and en
gaged in a general mercantile
business at Talent where he was
prominent in civic affairs.
Mr. Tryon was a member of
the Presbyterian church at Al
bany, and of the Macabee lodge
there.
Besides his wife, he leaves
one sister, Mary Porter of Port-'
land. The remains are at the
Conger chapel and will be for
warded to Portland where serv
ices and interment will take
place.

PASSES AGED 68
Edwin P. Hughes, long time
resident of Jackson county, com
ing here in 1893, passed away at
his home, 709 North Riverside
shortly after noon yesterday at
the age of 68.
Mr. Hughes followed farming
until he engaged in the real
estate business which he has fol
lowed for the last 35 years.
He was member of the
Christian church of Phoenix.
Five children survive, Thel
ma Fox of French Gulch, Calif.;
Cecil Hughes, Hoquiam. Wash.;
I. Delbert, San Diego; Mrs. Rob
ert. Hollingsworth, Compton,
Calif., and Merle Hughes of
Medford. Also several grand
children. Three brothers are
also left, Walter of San Diego;
Robert L., Albuquerque. N. M.,
and L. H. Hughes of Medford.
Funeral services will be con
ducted at the Conger chapel at
1:30 Monday with the Rev. D. .
Millard officiating. Interment in
the Medford I.O.O.F. cemetery.
