Familiar Symbol To Seek

Salvation Army kettles, sym
bollc of Christmas, will be
placed on the streets here ' to
morrow. Adjutant Charles K.
Cox, head of the Medford corps,
announced today.
The kettles will be placed In
front of the Medford Center
building and Mann's department
store on North Central avenue
and at Main street and Central
venue, probably on the bank
corner. Adjutant Cox said. Tins

Adjutant Cox pleaded for
generosity so that everyone

kettles and tins is used for the
Salvation A r m y's Christmas
activities: baskets of food for
poor families, toys and treats
for children and the Yule party
at the hall for young people.
Last year 112 families were
given Salvation Army baskets
for Christmas. Several requests
for baskets have already been
received, Adjutant Cox said.
All names are carefully checked
with other organizations to
avoid duplication, he explained.

A short course In Christmas
package wrapping will be offer
ed at Medford senior high
school on December 2, 4, and
9, according to Principal Leon
ard B. Mayfield, to give em
ployed people of the commun
ity an opportunity to increase
their efficiency in package
wrapping for the Yule season.
It Is being offered In coopera
tion with the state board of vo
cational education.
The course will be under di
rect supervision of Mrs. Frankie
Schmitz, director of distributive
education fcr the state of Ore
gon. Mrs. Lucille Barrett Wright
of Swem's Gift Shop will be
instructor.
Three Sessions
At present, three two-hour
sessions are planned for Tues
day, December 2, Thursday, De
cember 4, and Tuesday, Decem
ber 9. Those interested are ask
ed to attend the first meeting,
all of which will be held at
7:30 p. m. in room 8 of the sen
ior high school.
Fart of the cost of the course
will be paid by the state de
partment and a fee of $1 will
be charged each one attending.
All material for wrapping prac
tice will be furnished. For ad
