of administration legislation to
revise the neutrality act today
that when they faced the elect
orate again, they would be
"Willkle candidates, supported
by the communists."
Resuming his attack on a
measure permitting American
merchant ships to carry arms
and sail Into the combat zones,
Wheeler said in the senate that
Wendell L. Willkie, the 1940
Republican nominee, and Sec
retary of the Navy Knox, also
a Republican, would support
them in their next campaign if
they voted for the bill, as Dem
ocratic leaders said a majority
of them would.

into the homes with political
jobs and take th fathers of
this country."

Wheeler charged at one point
that the navy "is sending Amer
ican boys to sea In ships that

Mrs. Ethel Taylor, daughter
of southern Oregon pioneers and
herself a pioneer In the Arctic
north, died yesterday at Anchor
age, Alaska, where her husband
operates the city's largest groc
ery store, word was received
here today.
Mrs. Taylor Is survived also
by a son. Walter L. White, for
mer Medford resident now liv
ing in Jacksonville, two sisters,
Mrs. Fred Foote. 809 East Ninth
street, and Mrs. Dora Coy, form
er Medford resident who moved
recently to Selma, and a brother,
Frank Fawcett, who moved re
cently from Medford to Valsetz.
Mr. White spent two weeks at
his mother's home in Anchorage
in September.
Mrs. Taylor went to Alaska
with her husband in 1910 and
the two operated tha Paxton
madhouse on tha Copper river
and on the Valdez trail to Fair
banks. When a community was
begun at Anchorage Mr. and
Mrs. Taylor went there and
started a soft drink bottling bus
iness. A dozen years or so aso
they gava this up to go into the
grocery Business.
Mrs. Taylor resided in Ash
land many years ago. Her fath
er, James Fawcett, was a pioneer
blacksmith in the Applegate dis
trict and his father was a black
smith at Fort Klamath whan tha
stronghold against tha Indian
was first established.
