CAUSEDBY 'FAG'
Rex Qoy To Pay $20 In
Crash Which Injured Six
Cigarette Given Blame
Aileen Margarita Berry, IB,
of Grants Pass, charged with
failure to operate an auto on
the right side of the road, and
failure to have an operator's li
cense, appeared in Justice court
yesterday, and through Rex J.
Coy, 19. Central Point, entered
a plea of guilty to both charges.
She was fined $2.50 and costs
on the wrong side of the road
complaint, and $2 and costs on
the other.
Coy, charged with permitting
an. unlicensed person (Miss
Berry) to operate an auto was
fined $2 and costs. Coy assumed
the payment of Miss Berry's
and his own fines and told the
court he felt he was alone to
blame. The court gave him until
October 23 to make the pay
ments, amounting to $20.
Cigarette Cause
The charges grew out of an
auto accident on the Pacific
highway near the Miller creek
bridge, in which six persons
were injured, including Miss
Berry and Coy. The others
were Mrs. Alice Coppin of this
city, who sustained a broken
right arm. Miss Kathryn Fick,
injured jaw and chest, Harry
H. Chapman of Hilt, Cal.,
broken knee cap, and Marjorie
Louise Pierce, 18, Central
Point, minor hurts and lacera
tions. Miss Berry sustained a
fractured foot and Coy a frac
tured, wrist.
The auto driven by Miss
Berry swerved into the path of
a car driven by Chapman, when
a cigarette dropped into the seat
and a scramble ensued to re
gain Jt. Mrs. Coppin and Miss
Ftck were passengers in the
Chapman car.
