Year's Largest Contest-
Many Prizes For Winners
The fourth and largest gas
model airplane meet of the year
will be held Sunday starting at
' 10 a. m. on Agate desert, Vi mile
south of Bybce bridge, by the
Medford Prop Nuts Gas Model
Airplane club.
With a prize list of over $50
besides several specialty prizes,
the local club is putting on the
biggest contest ever held in
southern Oregon. Contestants
are expected from Portland.
' Salem, Eugene, Klamath Falls.
-Crescent City, Rogue River,
Ashland and the local club to
compete for the prizes In three
classes.
The tiny ships vie in three
classes A, B and C according
to the displacement of the mo
tor. "A" class Is any motor up
to .199 cubic inch displacement;
B 200 to .299, and C .300 up
to 1.125. The A class consists of
hips up to about 42 inch wing
span; the B class 40 to 54 inch
and C class from 51 Inches to 8
and 10 feet.
The contest Sunday will be
held under Academy of Model
Aeronautics official rules. The
AMA is the national governing
body of all model avia'tion and
has a set of rules for all types of
model aircraft. Under these
rules the little ships take off
and fly for 20 seconds under
power, the motor to be cut off at
this time by an automatic
switch. The remainder of the
flight is a glide and If the ship
ii built and balanced correctly it
will fly for several minutes, the
local record being a little over
28 minutes.
The club will parade their
(hips with motoru running Sat
urday afternoon on the down
town streets.

There will be no admission
charge for entrance to the field
for spectators.
Cold drinks will be sold at the
field, and Fluhrer'g Bakery have
donated the use of their public
address system to announce the
winners and outstanding flights.

pleted two small new houses on
the south side of the creek. Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Pettcgren and
family moved into one of them
last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Dal Erumlnger, man
gers of the local phone of fie, re
cently purchased the King property
and are having the house remodrled
and painted and the rest generally
renovated.

and Mrs. Orrll Henderson last Tues
day evening.
Calvin Spencer, formerly manager
of the Ala Vista orchards here, was a
caller In Eagle Point Wednesday. He
haa sold their property near Central
Point recently but Is undecided yet
