One of Medford' most be-
: loved resident. Mrs. Rose Ger
trude Eifert, was laid to rest
late yesterday afternoon In the
iamily plot in the I. O. O. F.
cemetery. Mrs. Eifert died Mon
day morning at the age of 81.
She had resided here for 37
years.
Funeral services were held In
the Perl chapel The rites were
conducted by Mrs. Eifert's pas
tor, Dr. Sherman L. Divine of
the Presbyterian church.
Out-of-town relatives attend
ing the services were a son,
J. O. Eifert, Sr., and his wife
and son, J. O. Eifert, Jr., of
Roseburg, a daughter, Mrs.
Marie Swinson, and her daugh
ter, Barbara Lee, of Napa, Cal.,
another daughter, Mrs. Merritt
E. Schoonover, Mr. Schoonover
and their daughter, Shirley Mar.
of Portland, and a grandson,
Dr. William Laird Bamum, Mrs.
Barnum and their son, William
Laird, Jr., of Portland.

FINAL TRIBUTE
FOR MARUYAMA
Medford paid final tribute
yesterday afternoon to one of
its most genial and esteemed
residents, Masuzo Maruyama. '
for many years manager of the
University club, who died Tues-;
day morning at the age of 63 1
in his residence at 539 South
Ivy street.
Although born in Japan and
thus barred to United States
citizenship, Maruyama was as
loyal and devoted to American :
ideals as any citizen could be
and his readiness to do his part
in any civic service won for him
many friends. Tneir friendship
for this kind-hearted man known
affectionately as "Maru" was
evident at the funeral services
at the Perl chapel which was
filled with mourners and banked
with numerous floral tributes.
The Rev. R. W. Coleman, pas
tor of the First Christian church.
conducted the services. Burial
took place in the I. O. O. F.
cemetery.
