Outdoor Recital
Well-Attended At
Purucker Gardens

In a setting of unusual beauty
and color, on the outdoor red
tiled stage of the lovely Pur
ucker Gardens, Roberta Ward
Bebb presented a group of her
piano and voice students in a
program of international char
acter, a ''Musical Travelogue,"
in costume, on Thursday eve
ning.
Setting a high standard of
culture and background and dis
playing initiative, the program
was received with more than
ordinary enthusiasm by the ca
pacity audience.
The travelogue, written and
read by Mrs. Bebb, covered the
characteristics and history of
the music of the countries rep
resented. Opening the program, the
diminutive fairy from the "land
of Illusion" waved her magic
wand as If to usher in peace
and love to all nations.
The composition! played by
the students revealed an amaz
ingly fine balance between the
spirit and the letter of the se
lections. Other notable features
were the adroit technique,
aplomb in style and tonal col
oration. The young vocalists sang
with a technical certainty an 1
clarity of diction that carried
to the most distant listener.
The colorful costumes, accent
ed by the multi-colored lights,
added an exotic note to the vis
ual, as well as the musical as
pects of the program.

a large basket of beautiful flow
ers from her pupils.

"highlight program," as an ex
pression of gratitude for our
own dear America, the students
appeared "ensemble," on the
stage and Joined with the aud
ienc in singing "America the
Beautiful."

Johannson of Oakland, Cal., son
of Mr. and Mrs. BJorn Johann
son of Buffalo, N. Y., were mar
ried Saturday. Aug. 30 at 9:30
a. m. at the Corey residence on
the Crater Lake highway.

candles were lighted by Miss
Eleanor Meeker, the wedding
party stood before the fireplace
in the living room. Bouquets of
white and peach gladioli deco
rated the mantel and were used
about the rooms.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a white
satin wedding gown styled with
long sleeves, a scalloped neck
line and a fingertip veil. She
wore a single strand of pearls
and carried a colonial bouquet
of rosebuds, gardenias and baby
breath held by satin streamers.
She was attended by Mrs. H.
L. Hammond, Jr., of Medford
as matron of honor, who wore
a pink net. floor-length gown
with a tiny Jacket and carried
a colonial bouquet of pastel
flowers.
H. L. Hammond, Jr., was best
man.
The service was read by the
Rev. L. F. Belknap, retired
pastor of the First Methodist
church, and close friend of the
family. During the ceremony
Mrs. Elleene Ford sang "Be
cause." The single ring cere
mony was read in the presence
of relatives and close friends of
the family.
Mrs. Corey, mother of the
bride, wore an afternoon dress
of silk print with a corsage of
gardenias.
Immediately following the
ceremony an informal reception
honored the couple. The service
table was laid with a lace cloth
and centered with the wedding
cake which was topped with a! Mrs. George Erlckson. the former Miss Roberta Borland of

Mr. and Mrs. Johannson board
ed the forenoon Mainliner for
Oakland, Cal., where they will
make their home. They planned
to spend the Labor day week
end at Monterey. Cal.
Mrs. Johannson is a graduate
of Oregon State college where
she was affiliated with Delta
Zeta. She has been teaching at
the Eagle Point high school.

The service was read by the
Father Augustine A. Meyer of
Sacred Heart church in the
presence of a small group of
relatives and friends of the
couple.
The wedding party entered
the church to traditional wed
ding music played at the or
gan by Miss Martha DeSouza.
Harold Corliss sang Schubert's
"Ave Maria."
Given in marriage by her
father the bride chose a white
chiffon and lace wedding gown
with a veil. She carried a bou
quet of lilies of the valley and
rosebuds.
She was attended by Miss
Evelyn Nation of Medford. Best
man was James Kovoteni of
Klamath Falls. The bride's
mother. Mrs. Turner, wore a
soldier blue ensemble with
black accessories.
A wedding breakfast followed
at the Hotel Medford. Attending
were member, of the wedding
party and the Father Meyer.
Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Turner and
son Robert, of Helena; Mr. and
Mrs. Frances Walker. Mrs.
Harold Corliss, Mrs. Bob Cor
liss, Jr., Miss Martha DeSouza.
Mrs. Schaff graduated from
St. Mary's academy and later
attended St. Mary's college,
both in Leavenworth, Kas. For
the past year and a half she
has been employed as a nurse
at Sacred Heart hospital. Mr.
Schaff Is employed by the
Klamath Falls Construction
company.
They left for a short wedding
trip to the Oregon Caves, Eu
gene and Portland and upon
their return will make their
home in Klamath Falls. .
Outdoor Musical
To Be Tonight
This evening at 7:30 o'clock
an outdoor musical will be pre
sented in the gardens of the
H. O. Purucker home, 13 Glen
Oak court. The recital is open
without charge to those who
care to attend.
A varied program of Interest
tj all has been arranged and
will include local and out-of-town
artists and featuring organ
music which promises to be par
ticularly pleasing in the outdoor
setting. In event of rain the
program will be postponed.
The gardens are attractive
with flowers and lighting effects
have been arranged about the
lawn giving an impression of
indirect lighting. The stage is
set with a loud-speaker enabling
jail present to hear the program
with ease.
