Enters Guilty Plea
Denies Lecture Influence.

MIm Ann Marie Hanuen, 23,
admitted slayer of her two
newly born Infanta, was granted
probation today by Superior
Judge Edward Kelly.
The judge laid the girl would
remain a ward of the court dur
ing the 10-year probation per
iod. The ruling was made after
Mist Hanuen related her story
of the deathi of her two aoni
and collapsed on the witness
stand . . .
Termination of the probation
hearing also ended the inquiry
of Judge Kelly into Miss Hans-
sen's contention that a sex lec
ture she heard at San Diego
State college had tended to
place her "off guard." Dr. Wal
ter Hepner, college resident.
said he would investigate the
girl s account of the lecture
when the faculty reported for
the fall semester September IS.
The girl had pleaded guilty
to manslaughter charge for the
alayings. The district attorney's
office said the girl had admit
ted smothering the first baby.

day, Miss Hanssen told the court
that "any state college lecture
J might have heard had nothing
to do with my present predica
ment." The girl collapsed after an

In her testimony, Miss Hans
sen mentioned "an affair" with
Missoula, Mont,, man in 1939,
after which she said she came
to San Diego and entered col
lege. "Didn't you know of birth
control and didn't you take
courses at college where they
taught physiology?" the prose
cutor asked.
She said she had taken such
courses and had discussed sex
matters a little with girl friends,
but had only a "vague idea"
of birth control. She said she
was here three months before
the discovered the was pregnant

1 lb. Ground Steer Beef
3 Slices Oven Dried Bread
Salt and pepper to suit taste
Mix pulverized bread and meat and
roll into balls one inch in diameter.
Chop Y2 medium onion, 1 green
pepper and garlic to suit taste. Brown
in fat in skillet with the meat balls.
Prepare 1 lb. macaroni or spaghetti
in usual way then put all together in
baking dish, adding hot sauce or to
mato juice to suit. Bake hour in 350
degree oven. Serves 6 o 8 people for
less than 5c each.
