Oregon will start an immediate
survey of the farm machinery
situation in all 38 counties, Rob
ert Taylor, Pendleton, chairman
of the U. S. department of agri
cultural defense board for Ore
gon, said today. The board,
composed of representatives of
10 federal agricultural agencies,
held Its first full hearing at Ore
gon State college.

in establishing priorities for

TARGET IN PARIS FIRSTlLTHIP

Sept. 4. UP) A German non
commissioned officer was re
ported here today to have been
shot last night on a Paris street.
German authorities took the
ease out of the hands of French
police and began a manhunt for
the assailant.
An unidentified man js said
to have opened fire on the Ger
man, an army sergeant, with a
revolver in the busy East station
section.
The victim was rushed to La
Riboisiere hospital where his
wound was considered not se
rious. The bullet hit him in fleshy
part under the left shoulder.
The sergeant, accompanied by
his German fiancee, was nearlng
his quarters at the Terminus
hotel in the Rue de Strasa-
buourg when he was hit.
