Cool Shade of Camps, Pools
for Swimming, Drives in
Timber Land Attractions
The following recreational
bulletin was issued today by
Rogue River national forest
headquarters:
"With the warm weather pre
vailing in the valley, the cool
shade of forest camps, drives
along roads in heavy timber,
and swimming in mountain
pools offer enjoyment for the
week-end.
"Swimmers will find ideal
conditions at MeKei and
Beaver-Sulphur camps in the
Applegate district, at Lake o'
Woods and at a pool which is
provided by the resort at Dead
Indian Soda Springs. Motorists
are especially directed this
week to the Herschberger moun
tain area where the many acres
of bright alpine flowers are
now at their best, offering a
scene of unusual beauty from
the summit of the Umpqua di
vide. This area is reputed to
have the largest varietv nf wIM
rock garden plants on the Pa
cific coast.
Road Conditions
"Although road conditions In
the forest are generally good,
the following are still impass
ible: On the Ashland loop, trav
ellers from Ashland will be
stopped by snow at the head
of Grouse creek and from the
Applegate side at Wrangle gap;
the road from Lodgepole to
Parker meadoms and the unim
proved section of the Butte
Falls-Prospect county road are
so wet as to make the use of
chains advisable; the road from
McAllister Soda Springs to Fish
lake is under water in the low
meadows and travel on it should
noi De attempted; no difficulty
however, will be experienced in
ing good catches to flies. Horse
shoe and Cary lakes in Blue
canyon and all of the Seven
Lakes zrouD are consistently
yielding limit catches. The
trails in the Seven Lakes area
have been maintained and all

grounds at 10:30 Sunday morn

can be conducted with only one
trapsetter.

be the Pacific International
event at Portland the last week
