The gardens of the Brewer
home on East Main street were
scene of the installation Monday
evening of newly elected officers
of Zonta International. Miss
Louise Basford. newly elected
president, and Miss Janie Smith,
retiring president, acted as hos
tesses. Mrs. Lois Young was in
stalling officer.
Each retiring officer welcom
ed her successor In the impres
sive candlelight service. In
stalled were Miss Basford, as
president, Mrs. Stella Merrick,
as first vice-president: Mrs,
Jacaue Lenox, as second vice-
president. Mrs. Grace Holmes,
as treasurer and Mrs. Mabel
Conger, as secretary.
Miss Smith, the retiring pres
ident, was- presented a Zonta
pin and a note of appreciation
of her sincere service of the past
year.

itors with Mrs. Edyth Goodmati
of Jacksonville on their return
trip from a vacation spent along
the Pacific coast.

Mr. and Mrs. Lester Knips
and son, Mr. and Mrs. Earl
White and son, of Oakland, Cal.,
and Miss Alberta Knipps, of San
Francisco, Cal., were week-end
guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. G.
Knips of Oak Grove road.
Miss Knips, a Red Cross nurse
in Lettennan hospital in San
Francisco, has her orders to sail
for Honolulu, T. H. Friday. She
will remain on the Islands for
two years.
A graduate of Medford High
school she received her nurses
training at the St. Francis hos
pital in San Francisco and work
ed for a short time in the Sacred
Heart hospital here after grad
uating from nursing school. For
the past five years she has been
employed in a doctor's office in
Oakland.

New officers of the F. L. club
were elected recently when the
club met at the home of Miss
Edna Hilderbrand on Bennett
street. Iva Walden will serve as
president, Lucile Cave, vice
president and Josephine Bate-
man, secretary treasurer.
Georgiana Hussong, who has
been teaching in McMinnville
for the last year, was welcomed
upon her return to Medford.
Plans were made to hold the
next meeting at Jackson Hot
Springs for members and their
families.
