FARM OUTLOOK BRIGHT
1TH INCOME PROSPECT
BETTER THAN IN 1929

A total national income of at
least (83,000,000.000 (or 1941
wai forecast today by agricul
tura department economist, or
a minimum increase ot $11,'
000,000,000 over last year.
Looking beyond 1941. the
economists said it was probable
mat tne i4Z income would
reach $92,000,000,000 and that
the rata of Industrial production
would be 40 per cent greater
than in the boom year of 1929.
These estimates were con'
talned In special report on
the effect of the war and the
defense program on agriculture,
and most of the economists' find
ings concerned the outlook for
the farmer, which was consid
ered very good.
Given a continuation of favor
able weather for the rest of the
crop-growing season and a con
tinuation of the war. the farmer
may expect 1941 to surpass 1929
in prosperity, the experts said.
'' Their prediction was that
1941 s cash farm income would
be about $10,800,000,000 $1,
500,000,000 better than 1940.

FALSE FIRE ALARM
IS INVESTIGATED
An investigation was being
made today of the telephone
call that at 7:14 last night sent
the fire department on the run
to the Hotel Jackson on a false
alarm.
"We're not going to tolerate
any monkey business like this
In these serious times and it will
be too bad for anyone found
guilty of giving a false alarm."
Chief Roy Elliott said. "It is
the duty of every local citizen
to help prevent false alarms and
to assist in tracking down the
perpetrator if a false alarm is
given.
It costs the city a lot of
money and there Is always an
element of traffic danger every
time the department answers
an alarm, to say nothing of other
perns involved."
The person who made the
false report said the Hotel Jack
son was on fire near the Grey-
